How exactly do steroids stunt growth?

I always thought steroids stunted growth because of the test being converted to estrogen via aromatase. Is there any other factors?

Would taking letrozole all throughout and after cycles make it so that steroids don't stunt growth in the young?

Take an X-ray to be safe, see if plates are closed or not. Estrogen can stunt growth. No noone knows for sure if test does or not. It would be hard to do that kind of study. But look at bbuilders, most of them are short.

Normal T level will not stunt growth, but when your test is 5 times of what it should be, who knows, it might even promote growth. I also heard that Var promotes growth, but don't quote me on that. Again, simple medical x-rays will solve the problem. If plates are still open, simply don't touch roids.

Oxandrolone therapy in constitutionally delayed g... [Pediatrics. 1995] - PubMed - NCBI

    CONCLUSIONS:
This randomized, placebo-controlled trial demonstrates that low-dose oxandrolone can increase both height and weight velocity in boys with delayed puberty safely. Under the conditions of this study, however, the increased growth velocity in the oxandrolone-treated boys was not associated with a greater improvement in psychosocial status compared with the control boys
