Synthyroid (T4)
So, I don't normally take things from friends but a buddy of mine had some synthyroid 125mcg that he didn't want/need anymore.
I've taken T3 on cycle before at 100mcg daily so I've used a similar compound but I don't plan on cycling for at least another year.
Is it worth hanging onto it or can I take it off cycle?
At 125mcg, it should convert into about 31.25~mcg of T3 correct?
Can I take it at 250mcg of synthyroid off cycle? It'll only be about two weeks worth...
Just looking for you .02 I may not even take it from the guy, but it's free so hard to just say no unless I have a good reason

Ok. I'm curious as to the reasoning behind that

T3 is catabolic and shouldn't be used off cycle. And 100mcgs is too high at anytime IMO. The only reason for messing with thyroid off cycle would be if running a decent hgh dose. And you would use t4

It doesn't mess up your thyroid but I would take it with anabolics just incase your diet isn't in tune

I had always read that after usage everything bounced back a lot faster than you would think.
Anyways, I'm not on cycle anyway so I don't think it's worth my time. I had just never come across T4 before so I was curious to the comparison.
Thanks for your input guys

I believe it converts @ 80% so 125mcgs converts to 100mcg of t3 so t4 @ 250 = t3 @ 200 and that is probably to much. imo

I believe the conversion rate is actually 25%.
So 100mcg of T4 converts to 25mcg of T3
125mcg T4 converts to 31.25mcg T3
250mcg T4 converts to 62.5 mcg T3
I am sure on of the veterans will clear this up.

I have never heard it being this high. I thought it was around 25%
Anyone else have a differing opinion. Who's right here?

here is some info I found take or leave it...but here it is. link posted to site is below info.
Thyroid Metabolism
After the hypothalamus stimulates the pituitary, and after the pituitary releases TSH, and after thyroid peroxidase makes T3/T4 in the thyroid, T3 and T4 is released into the blood and catches a ride on a protein called Thyroid Binding Globulin which acts as a taxi to transfer the hormones.
Roughly 93% of the thyroid hormones is in the form of T4 which is an inactive form and must be converted to T3 before the cells of the body can use it. 7% is made into T3 and can be imediately transfered to cells by thyroid binding glubulin proteins.
In the liver, around 60% of the inactive T4 is converted to T3. Another 20% gets converted to reverse T3 which is inactive and exctreted from the body. The last 20% is converted to T3S and T3AC which are inactive forms of T3.
T3S and T3AC are then converted into the active form of T3 by bacteria located in the gastrointestinal tract. It can then be used by the cells of the body to fuel metabolism.

this one is even better but a longer read
http://drhedberg.com/2011/02/08/the-...roid-hormones/
both talk of 80+% conversion by the time the process is complete- 7% immediately converted, 60% converted in Liver, and 20% that is converted to t3s and t3ac converted to useable t3 in gastro intestinal track.
With the power of thyroid drugs please be careful and research don't just ask others who just grab from out of thin air.Last edited by 555mjolnir; 07-22-2013 at 03:04 PM. Reason: second link
