    In regards to high bf and cycling

    Hello all,

    So I just recently read the thread regarding cycling with high bf% and I had a quick question for some of you veterans. As I am a powerlifter (not a bodybuilder), my bf% is around 16-17%. I like keeping it there as I feel like my current weight, 225, maximizes my strength. As I was reading the aforementioned thread, I read that it was common belief that AAS should only be used at a lower bf% such as 10-12%. My question is this, should AAS be used at a higher bf% if they are only used to gain strength and not in the pursuit of aestheticism?

    Thanks,
    Trenton

    Higher Bf = more conversion to estrogen.

    The solution: Use more AI. This is not for beginners, though.
    I do not know your cycle history, so I won't make any suggestions.

    If you don't care about getting gyno, don't care about the carcinogenic effects of excess estrogen, don't care about high blood pressure, don't care about fat gain...and all you care about is strength gains...I suppose logically cycling would be justified.

    Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry for my lack of knowledge but what exactly is AI? I looked on the 'List of Common Abbreviations' thread and still couldn't find it. I have no cycle history, which is why I'm here. I don't want to start one without knowing EXACTLY what I'm doing as I know messing with hormone levels can be dangerous stuff. As far as excess estrogen, couldn't I use an estrogen antagonist to combat the higher estrogen levels?

    AI = aromatase inhibitor

    Aromatase is the enzyme that converts testosterone into estrogen.

    I cycle at around 20% bodyfat. I use 1 mg of arimidex every day and have estradiol of 15.7 (7.6 - 42.6) using 750mg test/week. The honest truth is that I am not a bodybuilder and don't care if I can see abs. The doctrine by some users on this forum doesn't apply to many people, and I think it is really just said to keep guys who are just fat from thinking that AAS is the solution to their problems.

    Couldlt of put it better. So many people will try and put you off steroids and make you earn the gains the natural way which I guess is a good thing.

    But the honest thing is higher % means higher risk to side effects eg. gyno., btu there is also things to tackle that and prevent it.

    No matter how high your bf% is steroids will always have an effect on your body but maybe not as much as you hope..they are not miracle workers

    I wouldn't advise a new steroid user for cycling higher bodyfats, because they don't know how to control possible sides yet or how they react to compounds. I also wouldn't advise someone cycling higher bodyfat unless they are on TRT or blasting/cruising year round. Since I know that I'd want to optimize my cycle for the year and although it's fine to cycle higher bodyfat....I agree it's not optimal.

    Personally even cycling at around 20% bodyfat, I didn't need an AI, because I know my body doesn't need an AI at all since my high DHT levels seems to regulate estrogen and don't need to worry about bitch tits. But I wouldn't know this unless I had bloodwork done like I did and knew how I was handling everything. I'm also not very prone to sides from any drug.....yet I know some people who feel like shit cycling at higher bodyfat because their body just is in a mess of a state and can't regulate itself.
