Travelling to Ukraine/Russia

I am planning on taking a temporary job with a financial company, basically an internship for a minimum of 6 months, that's going to be in Ukraine or Russia don't know yet. I take about 400mg of sust per week. My question is what is the best way to get it overseas where I am staying. I almost would think it would be easier to purchase it over and not take it over. But I don't know how hard they look at the checked bags.
