Prior to that I have had several fractures and numerous injuries from motor cycles, horse riding, snow skiing etc. I never once even considered steroids as I always thought I was too young and I also knew I could become stronger naturally.
There are always consequences to actions, I had to move to a country where use and purchase was legal. I am fortunate in having a Thai wife. At the age of 58 in 2 months I am stronger than ever before, I am happy with my choice but to even consider it at 21 would be very foolish. As a power lifter my body was used to the weights I use, It had grown the tendons and sinews needed to allow me to go really heavy. Had this not been the case I would be a mess now.
I also trained and used with a compound fracture to both bones in my leg. As a result I live with constant pain as the stainless steel screws could not handle my squats and dead lifts. It was 2 years before I could have the steel plates removed and the broken screws are still there! There are 4 broken screws going through my bone that cannot be removed and the stainless steel plates were bent also. Its not easy to bend those plates. Ok! I am old and I have a high tolerance to pain but at 21 I could not have done all the wonderful things I did do had I used steroids.
I no longer expect to climb mountains, ride rodeo, play squash and golf or go skydiving but I am pleased to have the memories from my youth. I am also happy to have a beautiful younger wife [another one] and my daughter. I guess I am trying to say I think it would be a mistake for you to use now! Kindest regards John
