First injection site advise for 23g 1.5''

    Hello Folks,

I just picked up my first vial of cypionate and the pharmacist gave me 4 syringes with 23g 1.5'' needles.

Since I will be attempting to do this for the first time I would like to know if you could advise on the best location for a newbie somewhat hesitant of the pinch and using the 23g 1.5.

What would you suggest I poke for the very first attempt?
I am more inclined to do the leg vs the buttock since it is easier to reach, but not sure if the 1.5'' length of the needle would make it harder for me to control on the leg. Should it go all the way in on the leg or guess it at 1''?

Anyways, I am looking at some videos on how to do this as we speak, but thought I'd ask what you thought.
    Thanks a lot!

Yes. I am going from Testim to injections since I am not having good results with the gel.

Hey buddy, i work in the medical field. You are correct that it will be easier in the quad (vastus lateralis) vs the butt for your first try. Slow and steady darting motion into the leg, aspirate the needle to make sure no blood, then slow push and you are gtg.

Edit- push the needle all the way in, you have more room than you think and it will be easier to hold steady.

You have my favorite gauge and size of needle. IMO stay away from legs! Pin glutes. Less PIP. Make sure to go to spot injections . com to get educated. Don't want to hit your syatic nerve.

I avoid legs like the plague! Think I would pin my little penis muscle before my legs.

    Glute all the way too.
I hate the leg. HIGH pip and it freak me out to harpoon my leg...

Shoulder are a great spot too.

Like above spotinjection. com is great.

and again like above, subQ would be a good option. Way easier and way more comfortable.

But maybe its only my gear who's painfull...

I love quad shots, I would not go more than 1" deep in the quad.

    thanks for your suggestions guys!!!
The spotinjection website is very useful. I think I will do the glute, but I am having doubts on getting the shot today or waiting for another month and a half (feeling like crap) which is when I have my appointment with the Endo
I started another thread explaining the issue, if you have the time, please check it out. Otherwise, thanks again for the suggestions.

I'm a newb on end of week 3. I've pinned my delts, quads, and glutes....and love it. If you're in doubt, just look up a few youtube vids. How to inject test in your ______. Watch several. Don't worry about PIP. When you worked out you've experienced DOMS didn't you? DOMS can be worse in my opinion.

Is it advisable to pin quads on the morning of a day with leg workout (box squats) in the afternoon? Would glutes be better on a leg day?

Thought the new, medically approved way to pin IM was to not aspirate?

Well, when I started researching AAS, I was surprised that anyone aspirated, I've had hundreds of shots, don't think I've ever had a nurse or a doctor aspirate.

    However:

    Quoted from other sites:
According to the CDC they state-

"Aspiration - Aspiration is the process of pulling back on the plunger of the syringe prior to injection to ensure that the medication is not injected into a blood vessel. Although this practice is advocated by some experts, the procedure is not required because no large blood vessels exist at the recommended injection sites."

"Aspiration is not indicated for SC injections."

"Aspiration is not indicated for IM injections."

    http://www.nnpnetwork.org/Uploads/EB...%20iowa%20.pdf

Other organizations that state aspiration is not necessary:
Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP)
    Department of Health Services (DHS)
American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP)
    U.K. Department of Health (DoH)
    World Health Organization (WHO
