I've heard creatine works well with AAS so I have been taking it with my post workout shakes. What else do you guys like to add to your shakes? Someone told me a 1/4 cup of dextrose is good to add, what are your thoughts on that?

Only if I'm hungry. If I train late in the evening, I don't really eat anything. Just go to bed. If It's early morning, I tend to get hungry after.

I think it's extremely important to get in quality protein right after workout, and creatine and sugar is a great idea.

I've been drinking creatine bcaa and an instant carb powder during my work outs and then the protein shake post work out. I work out early in the morning so I've had a meal before the gym.
The shake is 800 cals 82 carb 62 protien 23 sugar and 1700 potassium.
It amuses me that so many people rely on SUPPLEMENTS!!!
All you need is food. Other than convenience, I really don't really see the need. Save your money.
You are right in a way. Do you have any idea how many meals I eat and the amount of real food? You understand that there are points in your day you need more of one thing or another. And the most efficient way is with a supplement. That's why they are called supplements They aren't made to replace food.

I only have one shake per day and that's post work-out. It consists of whey, oats, and a banana mixed with water. For me, one shake is enough as I get plenty of nutrients from whole foods throughout the day.
There isn't an amount of food a human can consume that would yield optimum levels. That doesn't mean you're unhealthy, but there's a difference between healthy (in range, garbage RDA) and optimum, where benefits would be amplified with certain compounds.
Take your B12 serum from the average of 400 pg/ml to 4000+ and you'll change that statement. No amount of food will yield NO levels that actually produce outstanding results. etc...

Interesting that you should say that. What I am about to say is purely on my own anecdotal observations. I have always trained in the morning and I used to take most my carb intake for the day pre and post workout in the morning and early afternoon. However, I switched this up and now eat entirely protein pre and post workout and take 90% of my carbs late at night time and seems to work really well for me. I feel full of energy when I wake up and rather than making me fat weirdly enough it actually makes me lean out a bit more.
I don't do as many shakes any more as I used to. I eat a good portion of food before a work out (last night was steak, chicken breast, and grilled asparagus) and then try to get another decent meal post work out (last night was three sea bass steaks). Sometimes when heading home from the gym before I eat, I'll throw back a Quest Protein bar with the rest of my BCAAs.Originally Posted by DPTUK
The odd time I make a shake, I toss the following in my Blendtec and it pulverizes everything:
- rolled oats
- geek yogurt (or peanut butter)
- protein powder
- egg whites
- baby spinach
- almond milk
- olive oil

Look I do 3 shakes a day. But only 1 is the lazy man special.
2 are
10 egg whites
2 packets instant grits
1 Greek yogurt with fruit
Blend and drink. That's real food
The other is
8 oz milk
4 scoops Up Your Mass
Not real food. But easy in the car.
