Dark Purple Mark Little Bigger than dollar Coin in Pec 3 days after Pin-not abcess?

    Hi everyone

    *QUICK BACKGROUND INFO.:

I pinned myself 3 days ago in the pec after giving that area a 2 week break or rest.

Prior to that the Testosterone delivery into the pec was more difficult than usual

I was told that there might be scarring in the pec & I should give the pec area a rest from pinning

So anyway 3 days ago, on Thursday, 1/16/14, when I pinned my left pec, the Test went in easily without having to push too hard on the plunger, so I WAS HAPPY ABOUT THAT

Then, almost immediately after, there was a slight swell at the injection site

and it bled a little more, dripping slightly down my stomach

    This slight swell went away

But it turned purple almost immediately too like a black & blue mark.

    *CURRENT SYMPTOMS:

But now 1) I have a dark purple spot that's a little bigger than a dollar size coin.

    2) Area is sore like a bruise (like I've been birthday punched real hard in the pec)

    3) Left pec range of motion is slightly restricted: For example, like if I were to do flat bench dumbbell flyes I could feel resistance on the left pec at the bottom part of the motion.

    There's no redness,

There's no sharp pain to the touch.

I researched that even though I aspirated, I can hit blood vessels so aspiration isn't a guarantee.

I'm only recently applying a warm compress (like today) with a gel pack I dip in microwaved warm almost hot water.

It seems like some blood vessels burst

The area is flush with the rest of my pec, but there's just a lump AND

there's no rednesss or sharp pain

    *USUAL SIGNS OF ABCESS:

    1) REDNESS AND

    2) SHARP PAIN TO THE TOUCH

ARE 2 BIG SIGNS OR SYMPTOMS OF ABCESSES.

I'm kind of concerned cos the Pec is both swore & There's a big dark Purple black & blue spot as I mentioned the size of a little more than a dollar size coin which is kinda big if you note that a dollar size coin is big enough & a little more than that.

    The left pec is sore

I'm also only recently starting to rub Arnica Gel into the area & massage (by only recently, I mean today, Sunday, 1/9/14)

I'm also taking Doxycline 100 mg tabs 2x per day roughly 12 hrs apart as a precautionary measure. Doxy is an antibiotic.

I'm pretty sure this isn't an abcess, just a contusion of leaking blood into the muscle or under the skin, but since I had an abcess once & had to go to the ER to have it drained, (A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WHICH TOOK 3 TRIPS TO THE E.R. JUST TO FOLLOW UP THAT THE ABCESS WAS FULLY GONE), I'm THEREFORE, really worried about abcesss.

Please can anyone confirm that this isn't an abcess but just a black & blue mark a/k/a Contusion, that after 5 days will diminish greatly & turn from a dark purple to the usually healing yellow to then the pale color of my skin?

    Thanks for any help.

Happened to me in the quad. Small dime sized area turned purple immediately and bled from the injection site. Went away after a few days. I wouldn't worry about it, but keep an eye on it.

Thanks, yes. Dark Purple is a good sign & great relief.

When it gets red & tender-sharp that's when there's a need to worry.

I will keep an eye on it King6II to see if it doesn't turn red or get bigger (expand) in size.

    Thanks again.

No problem, also I would discontinue the doxy. Doxy is an anti-bacterial, I used it as an antimalarial medication while in the suck. If you immediately saw purple highly unlikely that it is a bacterial infection. You would be better off taking an OTC NSAID, anti-inflammatory such as Ibuprofen if needed. Also doxy can cause some skin issues such as rashes, did for me. As I said just keep an eye on it, if it gets worse go to the doc, but I think you will be ok.

    thanks again.

After 1 abcess that needed draining in my shoulder.

Doxy prevented an abcess once for me in my glute area.

I'm real bad at injecting, I have bad coordination & shaky hands due to a head injury.

The glute if u hit more towards the hip (cause it's easier to aspirate), you hit a "pocket of free space" (and not the muscle) another possible cause of an abcess. The Testosterone just sits there an I think might be prone to infection cos it's not in the muscle.

I prevented this glute abcess according to a doctor because I immediately took Doxy 2x a day at 100 mgs per pill.

It was red, but just dried up and didn't grow in size

This doc took an ultra sound to make sure. and he apsirated also.

but ur right in this case, it's just a waste of a good antibio for me cause it;'s dark purple & looks like a bad bruise.

i never had skin issues/no rashes

actually another good thing is these antibio's stop & heal up pimples caused by juice.
