Cycling / high blood pressure
Okay I made this tread in regards of a friend of mine that ran a 10 week cycle about 6 months ago and still has high blood pressure. I'm aware of a few things that could cause this, I want to give him some insight on where he could of went wrong. Doc told him he could have a stroke at anytime .. (Don't ask why he didn't check his blood pressure he obviously didn't no what he was doin)
'What are causes of high blood pressure in relation to cycling"?
His cycle
1-10 test e 500mgs a week
Adex .5
Not sure what he did for pct but I no he used novadex and HCG

There are pills that a doctor can prescribe to lower blood pressure. They can make you sick, but if he is in danger he probably would have given them to him. I hope he is OK.

Probably had thick blood, which steroids will do. Seems like a short period to experience that but who knows, everyone is different. If he's a smoker and/or has sleep apnea , it's even worse.

There are many factors related to hypertension (high blood pressure). Anabolic steroids are known to elevate BP, some more than others, however other factors can exacerbate high BP while cycling. These include:
1. High body fat. On this forum we generally advise people to being their BP down to 15% or better because using anabolics with a bf above 15% increases a number of risks - including hypertension.
2. Lack of physical activity. General not a real concern among those in the fitness community, however, those at risk for high BP can reduce the risk by increasing cardio.
3. Nutrition. Excessive salt and diets higher in unhealthy fats will elevate blood pressure.
4. Smoking. Frequently amazes me when I see people hanging around the gym having a cigarette before AND after the gym. Kick the filthy habit! It serves no purpose.
5. Alcohol consumption. Less of a contributing factor unless or consumes 1-2 drinks daily on average. Low-moderate drinking is generally not a considerable factor unless combined with high bf and poor diet.
6. Genetics. Some are prone to HTN risks.
7. Age. Prevalence of HTN increases with age.
Any of the above factors increases the risk for HTN on an anabolic cycle. Another concern one should be cautious of is that anabolics will increase bad cholesterol (LDL), triglycerides, total cholesterol, and lower good cholesterol (HDL), increasing risks for clotting disorders and CVD.

Thanks for the replies guys! Musclelnk info was quite informative.
Yeah he's not on any form medication for it. He seeing doctors regularly cause he got in a really bad accident snapped his femur, collarbone, and wrist. This happened about month prior to his cycle. Now he's smeller than he ever was. and he was in a wheel for awhile so that might have something to do with his blood getting thick?
He also ate like garbage on cycle and drank so that probably has something to do with it.
I'm not sure what his blood pressures at but it's dangerously high as the doctor even told him. I'm going to go in and book an appointment to get his blood pressure figured out. I think the doctors keep pushing it aside because their dealing with all his broken bones.
But anyways thanks eh!

Muscle Inc was spot on with BP causes. Genetics. Some are prone to HTN risks, African American people are more prone to this. IMHO, Pain was the only thing he left off. Pain can really raise ones Blood Pressure. IDK what his pressure is but with a snapped femur I bet he is in a LOT of pain. Could be a reason for them over looking his BP, but if he is near stroke levels then he needs to get someone to address that issue. I hope your friend get well soon.
