I just snap them. But some use a small file to score the thin end of the neck before the vial to make it snap easier. I draw it out with a 19g pin.

They have a filter after the needle in the shank part that screws onto the syringe. Obviously it's suppose to be sterile in the amp so I imagine it's in case any glass shards get in the gear.

I just put slight pressure on the top and rotate it until it snaps off easily. If you're worried about getting cut wrap the base and top with some tissue or a napkin.

Ya and I'm on my iPhone and tech retarded so I don't know how to post a pic. I just googled how to use a ampule and the video I watched had it. Called around and walgreens has them.

You will lose a lot of gear with the filter. A quick clean snap and your gtg.

when I pop an amp I only use a filter syringe when I don't get a clean and even break. I do use an alcohol pad for protection while breaking the amp. Never thought about using a file but when I am in the clinical setting I don't have time for a file. Most amps are scored anyway. Just make sure you go fast. I have never seen the loss of any drug due to the filter syringe but it would depend on the medication you are pulling up.

My main concern is the loss of gear either because the amp breaking in my hands or the filter trapping some gear.

Google Monoject Filter Needle... I have these, and yes they are used for drawing out of amps. These are not like a syringe filter that is typically used to PUSH through, these are used to DRAW...you won't waste anything with these.
