Can't beat NAC. Best for liver period. 2400mg a day while on orals.

NAC is great. Milk thistle is practically useless.

Over the past several years, herbal treatment of fatty liver and associated hepatotoxicities has received increasing attention due to the wide availability of herbal/homeopathic remedies, their low side effects, and therapeutic mechanisms and benefits.
In the liver cells, the common beneficial effects of silybin and silymarin (derivatives of milk thistle) include antioxidative effects, direct/indirect effects on inflammation and fibrosis, as well as modulation of metabolic pathways. In the presence of oxidative and nitrosative stress, silybin inhibits the formation of free radicals and nitric oxide, phosphorylates adenosine diphosphate to increase the content of adenosine triphosphate, decreases the content of MDA, and recovers the basal expression levels of antioxidant enzymes such as catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and glutathione peroxidase (GPx). The anti-inflammatory effects of silybin and silymarin result from the interference with NF-κB–controlled transduction cascade.
Despite evidence to the potential benefits of milk thistle, NAC is my recommended preference for hepatotoxicity. In addition to the benefits offered by milk thistle, studies have shown that N-acetylcysteine (NAC) protects against statins-induced cytotoxicity by reducing the amount of ROS formation, lipid peroxidation and improving the cell viability and mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP).
Overall the benefits of NAC are superior IMO.
