Would TRT be a good way to introduce myself to tinkering with my hormones?
I'm in the research phase and, not knowing anyone who personally takes steroids , was wondering if TRT would be a good "gentle introduction" into taking them since it's pretty much testosterone only, HCG , and Anastrozole.

I wouldn't, no sense in putting yourself on TRT if you don't need it. I would just do the research and when you are ready start a normal Test cycle with no other fancy steroids thrown in. Hormones are not something to be tinkered with so I would never recommend anyone do anything of the sort unless they know exactly what they are doing, why, and what should happen.
Low doses of those will just suppress your HPTA, shutting you down, but still will not yield worthy results. The risk to benefit ratio there seems terrible.

Don't start TRT unless you need it. It's a lifetime commitment.
If you're producing enough testosterone on your own, a beginner's test only cycle is the way to go. "Only" meaning the only anabolic steroid in the cycle. HCG and an AI would be recommended on cycle, followed by a good PCT.

Oh my. Not a good idea. With a solid base and proper diet a basic test only cycle is all you would need to try.

Gee I want to learn more about diabetes, should I become a diabetic?
I want to know more about how broken bones heal, should I break my arm?
Get the idea yet?

Just do a first cycle of Test/HCG /an AI/ and PCT. There is a stickie on the the forum on first cycles. Make sure you have something for acne because there's a really good chance you'll break out on your first cycle.

I thought TRT was Test-only.
I'm curious as to why it is so strongly advised against here. Is it because it is given continuously and not cycled on and off?
I was considering it because it seems like a legit way to get pure substance without having a source before hand.

It's because it's given continuously like you said. 100 mg/week will shut down your natural testosterone the same way 500 mg/week will.
The longer you stay on, the less likely it is that you'll be able to come off. Cycling is the way to go as long as your body can produce testosterone naturally.

TRT is test only. Test only as in no other AAS being used. But ancillaries (HCG / AI) are needed in most cases as well. Along with BW to dial in.
It's not advised as if your T level is fine why on earth shut down your HPTA only to replace it with a similar amount. TRT = replacement, not a cycle.
It would not be enough for a cycle and your BW would not pass muster with your doctor.
