    Hernia prednisone and testosterone

Hi all, I just got an MRI showing a hernia in my L3 L4. The doctor wants to use prednisone to reduce swelling, but I've read some weird stuff on here about the interaction of prenisone and testosterone . Additionally i've read stuff about adrenal failure associated with prednisone.

What should I be aware of that can happen if I take both of these? Should I tell my doctor about my elevated testosterone?

Also I'm about to try hanging my body upside down to see if that helps… is it possible to legitimately heal my hernia without surgery? I want to deadlift and squat but as of now I can't even do standing bicep curls without pain. What should I do?

I had Piriformis syndrome earlier associated with the back pain but I was able to heal it with heavy stretching. Can the same be done for the hernia? So far stretching hasn't seemed to help at all.

Corticosteroids suppress the HPTA. But you're using anabolics, so that doesn't matter.

A hernia in your neck will not heal on its own, ever. The disc resides between the bones is known as intervertebral fibrocartilage. There is not a source of blood flow that go into the disc. Without a blood flow there is no way to get for the disc to get nutrients to heal on its own. The pain you feel is from the nearby nerve being pinched, usually down an arm. The situation is exaggerated because of inflammation in the area. The doctor is trying to bring down the swelling in an attempt to relax the pressure on the nerve. As long as the disc is not directly touching the nerve, this is a very good help. I went through this for quite some time, give the shot a try. If it does not help there are other options. I would not worry about the interaction between the Prednisone shot and any test you are taking. The chances of an adverse side effect are small and if you don't get the inflammation under control it will continue to get worse.

On a side note I had a C6-C7 herniation and went through it all. Eventually I had to have a disc replacement (Bryan Disc) and its been great. Lifting heavy does not help.

L3and L4 are lower back not neck. Get a teeter table. Fantastic for stretching out your back and opening up those areas where your disks can heal and receive some rejuvenation and plus great ab work tool.

For some reason no pt or gym seems to have one of these… I do have a decline bench that goes to about a 45 degree angle, would that work?

I'm getting conflicting signals, Is it possible to heal this issue without surgery? I know its possible to reduce swelling temporarily but I mean can I actually solve this problem without surgery?

and yes i am on cycle week 4

Sorry if this thread is in the wrong place, maybe a mod can move it where it belongs.

45* will help but you need about 60 to really stretch out the vertebra and release the pressure to allow fluid to flow better between the disks. I've never seen a gym with one but on the website they are only about 250 for the best model. Only a doc can tell you if you have to have surgery but for a couple of hundred bucks I'd try anything first. I know the amount of flexibility mine has helped me with is unbelievable. I'm headed home from the gym and that's one of the first things I'll do when I get there.
