Injection Site Swelling, 2-3 inches below Shot

Hey guys, any help would be appreciated.

I took my first shot of 1ml Test Cyp Wednesday morning, at 250mg/ml in right delt. I didn't feel any pain during shot, just a slight tingling feeling inside muscle as if liquid is being injected, which it was, so not a big deal.

I went to gym after, lifted shoulders and tri's that day. Very little soreness during workout and no soreness after showering and going home. However at night time by 6ish, it started to swell up, about 2-3 inches below my injection site. It was not red, itchy, hot to touch, no fever, just a bump. I massaged it quite a bit and used heating pad to get it warm.

Today (Thursday), the swelling is about the same, I would say 1.5 inches in diameter, but with a very light red color. Still, there is no itch, fever, or warm feeling at all. Is this something to be concerned about? Should I just keep using a heat pad and massaging the crap out of it?

Please, any info would be great! Thanks.

Kinda hard to tell from pic. The swelling doesnt appear too bad. A side profile picture would help.

It my be slightly swollen because it is virgin muscle.

Yah, that's what my friend was saying. The cause of it might be first time user or simply put virgin muscle as this is my first cycle.

It is slightly swollen, but more of a "hard" feel to touch you know. It's not as soft to touch as other part of arm is when not flexed or just hanging loose.

Swelling and redness around the injection site, unfortunately, is fairly common. It could be a reaction to the type of oil used in the preparation of the gear (grape seed oil, etc.) Sometimes, if this continues to occur, sometimes you need to start off with real low doses until your body gets used to it. But yours does not look bad, and will probably go away in a few days.

what size pin did you use?...sometimes if you dont inject deep enough the gear pools up under the skin and takes a few days to absorb...

Agreed with Times Roman. Is the swelling area itchy ? If it's an allergic reaction you could either :

    (1) Take Benadryl to see if it clears up
    (2) Ask your source what kind of oil is used - buy said oil and dab another completely different area of your body. If that area becomes red / itchy / hives then you know it's allergies.

    Thanks Guys.

Actually, there is no itch at all. Right now, there is only a slight swelling/bump on the area. I actually have no pain at all, only minor pain if i press really hard or try to massage the area.

Windex--Good idea about benadryl, I will try that tonight.

I appreciate all the responses and once IT IS cleared, because it will I'll reply back so others in future have some info and feedback.

Alright, just here to give some updates.

No redness at all today, and swelling is down about 75% from first day. So I am pretty sure it will be completely fine in 2 more days. Also, took my 2nd shot today, on my left delt, more pain during injection than last shot. lol, hopefully it won't be the same thing on that side. I used a 25 guage 1" needle this time instead.

    Thanks for everyones input.

sorry to bump the thread but i figured itd be better to bump this instead of making a whole new one.

i currently have that same exact look on both my arms.i pinned left delt last monday, todays saturday, and right delt on thursday. ive noticed too that these red marks that are very slightly swollen didn't show up until after my shoulder workout. before that they were fine, just a bit of pip but no color or anything. just want to get more opinions on why this happened. like i said it was weird too how it didnt happen until after i worked shoulders cause i injected monday, no color or swelling that day, tuesday, or wednesday, but noticed it right away after my shoulder workout on thursday and hasnt gone away since. just making sure im fine and its not infected or anything. it doesnt itch

Doing the same as 1992mag, didn't want to start new thread.

1rst injection: left shoulder (my wife is an RN, so the shots are correct & sterile always), sore a little but no swelling or anything.
2nd shot in right arm and 3 days later: swelling, redness, hot to the touch and like the originator.. inches below the actual injection site. Just to be safe went to doc, said it could be cellulitis or a bug bite, gave me an antibiotic to be safe and in 3 days I was back to normal.
3rd shot in right thigh while still on antibiotics, and about 2 days later no redness or swelling but extremely sore thigh for 5 days.

4th shot, the Mrs. and I split it up as 2 shots 1/2 CC each. left shoulder, left buttocks and...both are red, warm & swollen 4 inches below injection site. Wife says it does look exactly like when she used to give allergy shots with the exception of location, since that reaction was always at injection site and sooner.

I can't find any thread here with someone having same trouble as me...am I alone on this one?

Many of the purported infections here are not true infections. Erythema, hyperemia, swelling, pain, may be due to an infection but these reactions can certainly occur in the absence of an infection. Many cases are simply localized reactions to the oils, alcohols, volume of drug injected, trauma to the fascia, etc. Often a light massage and warm compress (NOT cold) will help absorb the oil and promote wound healing without the need for antibiotics.

Clearly, any obvious infection must be treated, but many overreact to the symptoms I described and run to the ER or their MD fearing the worst.

I'm new to this but shouldn't IM shots be done with a min 1" pin or preferably a 1-1/4"?
Firedawgash, are you using a 5/8" pin like the OP was?

Most likely the problem. 5/8 is a little short and his arms aren't all that lean.

I was fairly lean in the shoulder on my first pins as well, using 1" I'd get these bumps, chalked it up to oil pooling, grabbed a 1-1/4" at the recommendation of an RN I know and never had a problem after that. Fire, maybe you are having a similar issue ?

first 1-1/4" going in was scary. looked like it was big enough to go out the other side damn near hahaha,

Yes, many guys on their first cycle are worried about going too deep. Pretty hard to go too deep.

I always say go in until you hit bone then back out 1/4 inch. LoL.
