You usually get around 2 - 4 weeks of lag,

There are many studies out there what show thyroid recover within 2-4 weeks even after 5 yrs worth of incorrect diagnosis and treatment.

By "lag time" does that mean that your body won't burn fat very well for that period?
Sorry I'm a beginner in the thyroid stuff.

This is spot on. Usually for me its about 2 weeks & during that time I need to be on point with my diet or I can undo some of my progress I made cutting.
