How are pro cycles today different from cycles from the 'Arnold Era'?

I'm guessing they are a lot stronger now, but I'm more interested in how much easier they were to recover from.
As far as I know, back then they didn't have HCG - and only Clomid.

It makes me wonder if HCG is even necessary unless you're doing a heavier cycle with multiple compunds

Shut down is shut down. It doesn't matter if it's from one or multiple compounds. Science has evolved over the years and it simply makes sense to use HCG to keep your system somewhat functioning. Plenty of studies to show this.

That's like saying drinking water is only necessary on marathons and not 400m sprints. Why take the risk? There's been so many studies that prove it's helped. Just like taking an AI.

I remember seeing an interview in which arnold states the does they used are 1/10th what body builders use today. I dont know how much truth there is to that, do you think arnold was running 250mg test/week and 300 primobolin? doubt it. I would wager that generally the usage is safer today than it was 30 years ago

What makes it "safer" is all the info available. Obviously, if done right, it's not "that" bad for you.

I'd think the doses back in Arnold's day were lighter. The science behind recovery probably wasn't as advanced.. But those guys could walk right into a pharmacy and buy the stuff..

That's definitely the majority of the difference. Plus 3-5gram week AAS dosages.
