    help

I started lifting and cardio about 4 years ago. I am bipolar so I have lithium induced hypothyroidism and I was taking levothroxine and Clonzepam. After I had gotten well I went back to my clean eating and excercise, but the lithium had packed on 50 pounds. I've tried to get the doctor to put me on T3 to no avail so I bought the liquid T3. I'm not too sure of the dosage I was on 100 mcg of Levo and the liquid is 100 mcg/ml. I also have COPD I have albuterol but I also bought the liquid 6mg/ml. I have been lifting and cardio for the past 8 months to try and get back to somewhere near my old body, but I haven;t lost anything and my muscles are still not up to par. My BF who lifts too coaches me but doesn't use any supplements. We have a gym in our house so we work out ar anytime sometimes twice a day. Does anyone have any input that I can try? How much of T3 and albuterol I should take. I'm running out of options.

What was your doctor's reasoning for not putting you on t3?

My TSH is within normal range, but from all the information i've read sometimes your t4 won't change to T3. With all the cardio I'm doing I should have lost something, but nada, so my metabolism has to be off.

Maybe you should get a second opinion from another physician.

There are a lot of people who do daily cardio and don't lose any weight.

I have an older sister who is in amazing shape.

She dose HIIT every morning before breakfast, but she's plateaued and can't lose any bf.

The reason I'm hesitant to recommend to take t3 is, from my experience, it's a very powerful hormone and you don't have your whole act together it's a waste for the possible side effects.

    I assume you mean clonazepam.

I am convinced from personal experience that benzos slow down metabolism and this long-acting one is probably the worst.

Would it be possible to look into an SSRI with an anti-anxiety classification instead of Klonopin?

Typically patients will fight tooth and nail to stay on Klonopin. You are going to have to judge for yourself whether this is important for you but I suspect it's not specifically prescribed for bipolar, but rather anxiety.

Do you have bloodwork at hand? What are your FT4/3 values?

I am taking 100 mcg Synthyroid on Wednesday I started 50 mcg od Synthyroid and 5 pumps of T3 liquid. So far I lost 4 pounds with exercise. I don't know if I'm taking the right dose of liquid T3 but it's working. I would like to take the pill but don't know a reputable place to get them. I didn't know that about Klonopin so I will cut down. But the lithium I have to take for the bipolar. I have other ssri but don't like the way they make me feel.

That's messed up. No FT4 or FT3. Total T4 and T7 are useless.

TSH however looks suppressed - you were taking too much Synthroid at the time.

How many mcg is one pump?

It's roughly 5 pumps / ml. but this is an approximation and isn't very accurate from website. Bottle says 100 mcg/ml. I keep asking for a free T3 and T4 but they never do it. stiill waiting for results from last week to see if they did it this time.

If you are right, then you are taking 100mcg Liothyronine. That's a cycle amount, not a therapeutic one.

You should have your thyroid checked and make sure your dose of synthroid is correct. You should also be doing interval cardio training and progressive resistance exercises. You also need to be eating cleanly.

I have been fighting with these Dr's should I say PA because you can't find a dr around here anymore, and I've even been to Duke to no avail about getting them to do the T3 Free and T4 tests. I have been reading alot of forums on the subject and I see that the T4 isn't changing into the T3 like it's suppose to. I started working out again so I would be able to get my body back into shape. But since they won't give me the T3 I thought I would do it myself. I don't know if I'm taking the right dosage or where I can get it in pill form instead of liquid I've been walking the treadmill 3 days a week, and lifting weighting 3 days a week.
