Just when I think I seen every possible shot complication

I seen them all, well at least I thought.

    Seen:

Blood shootout almost a foot out of the injection site
    Imjected too hot of oil
    Injected too close to surface
Imjected oil with EO and got a rash all the way down my arm
    Hit a bone
Did a injection with crap gear subQ
Hit a delt injection, had a muscle spasm which almost broke the needle. The needle was bent at almost 90 degrees to the barrel when I pulled it out
Had a wife do a try injection - she had to have hit a nerve. My arms spasmed and almost popped her in the face.

    I mean anything

But this one is special - needle was not even halfway in my right ass cheek & I feel a pain - I mean a pain that almost had me buckle at my knees. A pain so bad, I'd say somewhat to what a red hot needle stabbing you a half inch deep.

So, wtf was that?! Nerve I suppose - right?!

Never in over almost 5 years have I had one like this.

Sounds like your Sciatic nerve... I've heard of people literally not being able to walk/sit etc if they've hit that -

    How you feel now?

I asked my buddy, he's an MD in practice for 32 years, and he said that there were several larger nerve paths in the glute area with the Sciatic nerve being the largest. Sciatic runs down about the middle of your glute so the pin should enter the body on the upper outer quadrant of the glute. It sounds like you discovered where your sciatic runs.

lol. the hip feels like it would just be the best spot because it has got the least amount of fat to go through before i hit muscle. 1 1/2" for my big fat ass!

Ventrogluteal Injection is the preferred I.M. injection spot for many new medical professionals. It is reasonably free of major nerves and vascular branches, the muscle mass at the ventrogluteal injection site is adequate enough for deep IM or Z-track injections, and can hold many of cc's.

I know exactly what you are talking about Samson! I pinned the same spot on my left glute. I could see the muscle contracting bad, all I could do was watch for what seemed like 30 seconds with the pin half way in! It felt like someone was jabbing me with an electric cattle prod! I pulled out the needle and pinned the other side with no pain at all. Finally tried it again about 2 weeks later, with no problem! Strange stuff man.....

I agree with Nach, I hit mine 10 years ago. My ass swelled up. I had a limp for a few days and was unable to sit on my butt cheek lol

    That sucks!

Yeah I changed my usual inj spot from my glute to my leg just to avoid situations like this. Highly recommend, guys!
