Exactly. Unless your using a paid mailbox service just use your name. It looks really suspicious to use a fake name and could be the reason that you're investigated. If you're doing something illegal do you really think a fake name is going to keep you safe? Its not.

I Ship to my office and I use a combination of two names who work here. Every here has the same 1st letter in their name and 2 of us have the same name. so I use one first name and anothers last.
my reasoning is kind of silly but I can argue it is not for anyone here as the name is incorrect but it the delivery driver questions the name I can explaint the person sending got some of our names mixed up

If I miss a delivery and have to go pick it up they haven't asked for ID, but I use my name sonit wouldn't be a problem.

I use my name in fear that using a fake would:

1. Raise suspicion from the wife (doesn't know)
2. Raise suspicion for in the event of an investigation (I dunno, maybe paranoid)
3. Recover a package in case of a failed delivery. Nothing worse than being out hundreds of dollars.

For ups box, you need valid ID to open it but I say it's for my business and make up a fake business name... Could be anything.. but always my real name when stuff is shipped to my house which I use for domest** gear orders.. gh is international so use ups box with fake business name

If the law is that serious about catching someone for buying gear they have done an investigation already and a fake name on a box isn't going to stop them from prosecuting anyone. Just my opinion of course.

The punishment makes it futile to track someone down and slap them on the wrist. Now if you are ordering in bulk they might get you for dealing like the do with controlled substances but It seems to me there would have to be a predetermined amount classified to get you with intention to distribute. I have never heard of such but I also havent delved into that too deep.

When they tell me I have something to pickup, I walk right in the door and interact with them to observe their behavior. My Iphone alarm goes off and I excuse myself. The I walk my dog around the extreme perimeter of the neighborhood in circles which decrease with the apartment comples circle being the last circle. If there is a car on with the air conditioner running, I knock on the window and offer assistance. Then I pick up my package. I've never had a reason to be suspicious but I am OCD about preparation.

Fake name . Have never ordered,but sure as hell aint gonna use my real name. Hell I dont use my real name when registering for accounts online or apps.
