    Abscess

    Hi all,

I'm 4 weeks into my first cycle of test E, 500mg / week. Injection sites just shoulders up to now.

A couple of days ago I developed a pretty nasty abscess under some scar tissue on the back of my neck. I've had the scar (from an old piercing) for about 10 years now and it's never caused any problems this far.

I've also been quite run down with flu this week and very busy with work and the usual stuff for Christmas.

I had it removed yesterday evening, where I was told it may have been caused from friction from the scar tissue rubbing against the normal tissue, causing infection. I had trained legs earlier in the week so it could possibly have been that.

My question is, was it the steroids that caused this abscess? Obviously it's not an injection site, But is it a possibility that it's linked? Does anyone have any previous experience of this?

    Thanks for all help!

Hi Jay! It's really hard to say. Steroid use can cause the skin to be more oily than normal and possibly aid in the formation of your abscess. But, I think that could happen to anyone, steroids or not, under the same circumstances. Hope it heals up fast bro! Take care!

The thing is using steroids is that they don't always cause abscess at the injection
sight (although this is most common) but if your not being sterile while injecting or making up the shot. You can even get absences from phama grade. Ugl's do order should go through a sterilising process but this again could be poor quality. I'd say that just make sure your been sanitary and you should be OK

Injecting anything at all can cause an abscess due to bacteria entering the body from the skin. It's like you can get a splinter in your foot and end up with an abscess in your groin. This is very uncommon though.
The scar tissue you had and if it's been a inflammation there sounds like it would have happened, gear or no. The fact u had the flu could have depressed your immune system further, but it still sounds like this is something that was gonna happen anyway.
Anything we can say is mere guessing at this point.

Its really hard to determine if your delt injection caused the abscess in your back. I would have to concur with some of the above comments. Your illness may have weakened your immune system causing an already possibly infected site or unknown small abscess to grow.

I had a subcutaneous cyst on my neck

It literally had been there since I was 4 years old when I was about 27 a buddy of mine looked at it and squeeze the fucking shit out of it it hurt badly and the pain stop after a few weeks

Then every now and then when I turn my head to the left I would smell the smell that was so bad I thought it was a tooth in my mouth rotting

Turns out something inside that cyst has ruptured and was leaving this oily stinking Rancid fluid seeping out of my skin around the area it smelled like an anchovy cunt

I don't know this kind of reminded me of that it was a terrible smell

Clogged pores and constant friction of a dirty barbell in the same spot all the time from squatting could have very well been the culprit of your abscess
