Anyone succeeded in getting hematocrit down drastically?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has reached a point where their hematocrit level was very high and successfully managed to get it down to normal levels. If so, what was your highest percentage and what did you get it down to? And what did you do to achieve that?

    Mine is at 59%

    Thanks

You need to go see if you can donate blood. Double red blood cell f you can. It takes about 120 days for red blood cells to die so that would be a long wait

I agree with Bio-Active. The problem is you are likely to get rejected because your hemoglobin will be too high, but try to donate anyway. You will need several phlebotomies to get under 50. If you get rejected and have insurance see your doc for a therapeutic phlebotomy order. You are way too high and at risk. I would be taking an aspirin a day and taking care of that hct like yesterday.

Maybe some of the vets have ideas on phlebotomy resources if donation center rejects you for elevated hemoglobin. It is possible your hemoglobin is within range even with a screaming hematocrit though, so try to donate first. Ixnay on the AAS questions.

Also please make sure to stay very well hydrated.
    Dehydration cause high hematocrit.

I don't need to worry about hematocrit. I'm affected by a benign genetic condition that makes my erythrocytes smaller, though higher in number but they also live shorter than normal. Never witnessed HCT and Hb raise beyond 47.5% and 14.2, respectively. Somehow, I'm lucky...

Donating blood is the only thing that's helped me. I was having to give 2x monthly for a while. Right now it's once every 2 until further notice. Load up on water and an aspirin beforehand!

I can't donate blood anymore so I just drain in the tub. Yeah, it's a little gross but it helps.

    Pretty much what he said

That's the only real thing that works

I am on a fairly frequent schedule at my Red Cross. They all know me now - I'm in there every 8-12 weeks

Seems to work out very well so far - they draw way better than I can at home

Is there any condition you don't have Bizzaro? Did you grow up next to Fukushima or Chernoble?

Look up beta-thalassemia minor, it's pretty common in the Mediterranean basin. It is believed to be a survival adapt to malaria, that means my ancestors were meant to thrive, which is bad if you think that way.

BTW, yes, Chernobyl it isn't that distant. The incidence of thyroiditis f.ex grew exponentially in Italy after 1986.

Technique for this? Was thinking of using a 20g and just letting about 1.5 pints go.

Your percentage is fine but if you want to stop then just stop. No need for any pct etc this early on.
