I just wanted to ask the experts what they take for supplements on cycle. And also, is what I’m taking too much?
NAC 600mg ED
Coq10 100mg ED
Multi vitamin
Creatine 5g
Vitamin C 1000MG ED
Liver support 1xED
I feel like this is a little out of hand. Lots of pills to swallow, not that i mind. Is everything necessary? Obviously i could take or leave the creatine. I supplement vitamin c during the cold season every year, also to help lower cortisol levels. Any other insight?
Forgot to mention I’m also taking EAAs and BCAAs
Looks like you are missing Fish Oil (omegas), Nace and Liver support are both the same type of product but it's better to be safe than sorry. Vit C you will piss out every day. Vit B and C are water soluble so what your body does not need it you just piss it out.
You can add fiber like Psyllium Husks and Red Yeast for Chol help. Do a search on BCAA on this site. I was almost sold on them until I did my research. They should be in your protein powder so no need to spend the extra money on them.

Stick with NAC. Forget the other.
Creatine is great stuff. Proven effective.
BCAA's probably not needed if taking a quality protein supplement like Dave mentioned.
Have to see your chol values before I'd recommend anything. That said though, cycling will lower HDL and Slo-Niacin will help to elevate it.
I am taking optimum nutrition gold standard whey protein. I don’t have it in front of me, not sure of the BCAA content. But should i drop the extra exogenous BCAAs and keep taking the EAAs?
Does everyone agree with the dosage of NAC and coq10?
How much fish oil should one be taking? If somebody could just spell out the perfect supplement regimen that would be helpful.

Fish oil can be 1-2g a day up to 30g/d. I did a recomp diet and used fish oil for a good part of my fats. For a supplement I would do 2-4g/d.Quote:

milk thistle and NAC work by totally different mechanisms of action. NAC has the ability to restore intracellular levels of glutathione (acts as an antioxidant). Milk thistle acts as an antioxidant as well but it also helps dilate bile ducts to then better release toxins, also Milk thistle prevents free radical formation by inhibiting specific ROS producing enzymes .. thus improving integrity of mitochondria in stressful conditions.Quote:

Additionally, some supplements have side effects. Magnesium lowers blood pressure and can cause fatigue. Some people tolerate it just fine. I am not one and I tolerate almost everything. It drops my pressure and makes me so tired I can hardly function on just 500mg.
Alpha lipoid acid can cause/worsen reflux/heartburn. Vitamin K can increase tendency to clot the blood and I would never recommend taking it.
Zinc is great but can cause significant nausea on an empty stomach, so take with full meal. Can cause tinnitis (ringing in the ears) in a small percentage of the population.
Turmeric should have a significant percentage of curcuminoids or you might be taking bunk. And black pepper extract (Bioperine/piperine) is needed to facilitate absorption.
Nothing at all wrong with supplements but just like drugs, they should be researched and understood. Most vitamins are benign unless they are fat soluble (Vit A and D) and then can be toxic if taken in too high of levels.
I tend to be of the less is more mindset, and try to be minimal and add as I see a need. I have done months of milk thistle and NAC on cycle compared to cycle without and saw no difference in my labs results, but I do use NAC post cycle as well as niacinamide (to help raise HDL).
Not a criticism for GH as he knows his stuff, just another approach and cautionary note, especially on potassium.
I take potassium ONLY when I'm running exogenous insulin . running 30iu of insulin can drop your blood serum levels of potassium way down and cause Hypokalemia , which could result in heart failure.Quote:
