Heart growth true or false?
Hi Guys,
I have a doubt to ask you because I constantly read and hear different versions around. Someone claims that with the use of AAS (not insulin or GH) only AAS the heart can get bigger ... and can happen myocardial hypertrophy ... others say that this is possible only if the pressure is too high for several years, but it is not a direct consequence of the use of AAS (I believe this is the truth)...
How do you think? is there someone expert who can tell me a precise answer? Can testosterone and its derivatives use increase the size of the heart and myocardial hypertrophy? or it is this just due to high blood pressure so that by controlling the pressure the heart is always ok?
I'm not talking about gh or insulin, but AAS only.

I am not a heart dr, but the heart is a muscle. Taxing muscle on AAS helps it grow.
This is my bro science which seems logical. Once again there are some experts here that can confirm.

Like charger said. The heart is a muscle. LVH (left ventricular hypertrophy) is quite common among AAS users. There are plenty of studies on the topic but most all end with the caveat that "more studies are needed to confirm the findings" etc.
Remember, using AAS causes lower HDL, higher LDL and elevated triglycerides which is never a good scenario as well.
Short answer, yes you're susceptible to LVH with long term use of AAS. Risk - reward.

There are a lot of factors in your question but Kel answered them. Can it yes, but so can sitting on the couch and doing nothing. The better shape you are in cardiovascular wise the better off one will be and your heart will not have to work as hard to pump blood through you body. The more you make your heart work by pumping your blood will increase the size of ones heart.

Agreed with above statements. Keep the heart healthy

Would it be best then to do cardio off cycle and no cardio on cycle?

Not really, maybe just stick to low intensity cardio whilst on an a cycle imo.
Lifting weights will create a lot of heart activity on its own tbf though.
Your heart will only get bigger if it has too just like any other muscle, blood pressure is the bigger concern as well as plaque build up due to high colestrol.

AAS further exacerbate the effects of lifting on the heart. AASs cause anabolism in heart muscle, at times, increasing left ventricular wall thickness to 16mm (11mm is considered normal).4 However, LVH caused by resistance training either alone or in conjunction with AAS has yet to result in diastolic dysfunction, or in other words, there is yet no evidence that this thickening of the ventricular wall is pathologic.

Left Ventrical hypetrophy is not in of itself pathological. In fact it’s a know and common adaptation to chronic resistance and endurance training. It’s been studied in detail and outside of congenital enlargement is not generally considered dangerous or a problem.

So, if I understand correctly, if I keep my heart healthy (cardio activity, high Hdl, low LDL, low triglycerides, and controlled blood pressure), despite the use of AAS, the enlargement of the heart and left ventricle can happen anyway but should not directly cause heart attack ... since this is not pathological, right?
