    Vitamin D - Who takes?

My friend put me onto the "legal" steroid Vitamin D. lol.

Just wondering how many other people are taking Vitamin D and seeing the benefits?

I take vitamin D. I focus on my cycles and I take a lot of vitamins so focus on one specific vitamin is not realistic. I also cycle the vitamins although not as structured as AAS.

Just take it based on blood work as it's fat soluble and not water soluble. Most everyone in North America is low and can probably get by just fine with 5K iu's per day. I personally take 10K iu's per day which keeps me in the 80's on a scale of 30-100.

The same for me, 5000 IU daily..i find that my blood sugar levels seem to stay more stable when I am carb cycling. My doctor actually told me about the benefits of Vit D and blood sugar levels

I’d been taking 12,000 iu/day for about a year. Recent bloods came back with a 95.8 of a reference range of 30-100, so I ratcheted it back to 7000 and will see where that lands me in a few more weeks.

I dropped off of taking 5000iu daily and my last test value was 72.3 on a scale of 30-100ng/mL. Probably will have it checked again this coming winter to see how it holds up without supplementation.

Yeah, here too. Showed up deficient on bloodwork a while back- of course it is, in chicago- so doc gave me script for 50,000 iu d2/wk, and i do 5000iu d3 daily. Last bloodwork came back in the 90's. I did notice i was having nagging light upper arm and shoulder pain- but not the joint- the bone itself- after about 3 or 4 wks on the vit d, it disappeared

I take 50k a week, backed up by blood work, leaves me around 70 on a scale of 30-99.

For people taking high levels of supplemental VitD WITHOUT bloodwook, be thoughtful, I think I've read that VitD can be toxic at high levels for an extended period of time (source: Kelkel

Yeah i brought the toxicity up to my doc when he first started me, cuz i was also supp d3 on my own. He told me not to have any concern about it from about oct-feb, because in chgo theres no way im going to be able to get my levels high enough during that period. He said he will pull bloods in march and see.

Yes, I do take Vitamin D from Canadian Pharmacy. Many, if not most people are deficient in vitamin D unless they supplement. Age is one cause of the body not absorbing vitamin D--it's not necessarily because the people aren't out getting a suntan, it's simply their age. In fact a 65 year old could be more likely to be out in the sun working in a garden or sitting on a beach in winter than some young person sitting in an office. Their bodies just don't do a good job of absorbing vitamin D. That's why doctors test for it

And younger people too, for some reason, are often low in vitamin D. It's best to take around 5000 IU for COVID purposes. Maybe you'll not get such a bad case, maybe you'll avoid it, maybe...no one knows. At this point so much is unknown about COVID that we are just grasping at straws but this could be a good straw to have in your arsenal of defences.

I just had a Vitamin D shot last weekend and I've been feeling pretty good. Not getting enough sun (although it's been nice recently) this time of the year. Figured, why not?

I also got it because of the potential benefits against fighting COVID.

Most everyone in N. America is low and should test and supplement. Add in some Zinc and NAC to combat covid as well and you've got a great protocol.

10K a day for me for years. Keeps me around 80 on a scale of 30-100. Really important hormone (not a vitamin) that everyone should take. And take it with a large meal as well for best absorption.

I don't buy into the "dangerous" aspect unless you may be an extremely K2 deficient individual. K2 supplementation is great though and I've been on it for years. If someone feels arterial calcium build up is an issue then they should go get a Cardiac CT Scan for Calcium Score. It's a cheap imaging test that breaks down the calcium build up in the arteries around your heart. You'll need a script and most insurances don't cover it but it only costs about $85 bucks and takes 10 minutes. I did it earlier this year. Fascinating tool to have in your arsenal.

The effective dose of K2 is 100mcg. A quality activated multivitamin should have 25-75mcg K2 alone. Some D3 also includes K2 around 25mcg per 1000IU or 5000IU IIRC. The remaining D3 would be without K2 from another brand. It's very easy to get 100mcg daily.

5000 Iu daily, its more so a hormone than a vitamin.
Dr. Rhonda Patrick explains this to great extent.
