Hoping to find a Helpful Doctor and effective fat loss tx.
hi, I'm here because I have struggled most of my life being overweight. I yo yo dieted and I think it was almost to the point of an eating disorder.
recently, I went to a Hormone replacement Dr. and she ordered several blood tests. While I havent had a followup (and I will get one), the receptionist in the office called me and said my testosterone results were good (my levers were mid 700 or so). Additionally we performed a Thyroid function test, and A1C test to see if there were any deficits that might cause it to be difficult to lose weight. The receptionist told me that there was no reason to come in unless I wanted to come for a specific "weight loss consult", Which takes longer and costs more than the HRT consult.
I was really hoping that If I couldn't get some hormone that would make it easier to keep the fat off, or at least she would find something wrong that could be fixed, "diabetes, or low thyroid production" .
Although I want to break past my barriers with shear will power, I havent been able too. But I have tried hard and tried often. But other than maybe for a month at a time, I have failed to stay on a healthy diet, or on a weight loss diet of some kind.
I think I struggle with emotional eating, but part of it may be due to sugar addiction.
The thing is- I know all about every diet in the book. I know my exercise physiology and sports functioning and weight loss workout programs, but there isn't much that gets anyone past the emotional eating.
I currently take several psych meds,
I take welbutrin for sustained energy and depression. It gives me quite a bit of energy but I'm not sure that it really makes me happier.
I take Zoloft, and it has been extremely effective for depression, and severe anxiety.
Adderall for energy and to keep focused.
And Ambien because I cant sleep at night. however, I had that problem AND the weight gain prior to any meds. I thought those uppers would help me stop eating so much junk so often.
I hope this forum could eventually direct me to a doc, that would consider using hormones to facilitate weight loss and control weight such as-
Anavar
winstrol , ( I have heard they are relatively safe w/ the least sides)
at an effective but safe dose.
I dont need to be a body builder- I can put muscle mass on without help, thats not difficult for me. What is difficult is putting on lean muscle mass. I end up putting on 10 lbs of muscle, but then I also add 20 lbs of fat, and then I have a difficult time getting over the cravings, additions, hunger, weakness etc when I want to take it off)
also, If I stick to a workout plan- I can only get so far until injury (usually inflammation) prevents moving forward.
so if anyone could help direct me to the right people. I dont know anyone or any doc, that has access to this stuff.
And I was even suprised that the HRT doc wouldnt consider anything. I realize most doctors aren't steroid pushers, but I thought they would consider things if it improved quality of life. I realize they have to be legit and my labs look healthy- But im not looking for anything extreme, Im not looking for a corrupt doctor, (in fact I dont want one) But hormones seem to be the most effective weigh management program there is (judging by the Methy-one-test program I used. ) And I would rather get the real thing with a safe doctor supervised regimen.

Nothing can make up for a lack of ability to make hopes into acts, not even hormones. In all likelihood, even if a hormone or other pharmaceutical substance could help, the patient would just eat more.
Watch out for the combination of AAS and SSRIs. SSRIs raise prolactin.
The obvious needs to be restated and the obvious solution is usually the best solution. AAS or other pharmaceutical interventions will not change your reality. Just start changing one thing, then after a while, maintain that change and start working on another. That isn't a magic solution. Magic doesn't work.
Good luck

Unfortunately anabolic steroids won't help you. Especially orals like anavar and winstrol are very harmful to the liver, lipids etc. so you can't take them continuously, and when you stop you revert back to the state you were in beforehand. Injectables are better but they're still pretty dangerous for an overweight person (and again, you can't take them all the time without serious damage).
You wrote that you have problems with depression, anxiety and emotional eating. A lot of people benefit from talk therapy, have you tried that? If you start working through your issues, maybe the emotional eating gets better, you'll be more motivated in general and have more willpower etc.
I wish you the best, and welcome to the forum!

Yeah, I have tried just about everything (except surgical options).
I wouldnt consider myself depressed or anxious anymore. In the emotional sense, I am probably in better shape than the average person now.
Ive had several therapists, But its gotten to the point that they aren't much help because I already know what they are going to suggest, or say, or what treatment they will give me next. Its nice to talk to somebody once in a while but I feel like I understand my psychology just as well as any ph.d does. Neither is effective.
I tend to be skeptical that something like winstrol couldn't help me because Ive taken methyl one testosterone , which was just as strong as any steroid and just as bad on your liver as any oral, with great results.
Admittedly- spending money on supplements helps me mentally commit longer than I would without them. And when the more I spend and the more critical it is to stay focused (because you are taking something potentially dangerous), correlates to how committed I am.
In the long run, all the over the counter supplements, oral prohormones or precursers, and stimulants that aren't effective anyway; cannot be any more dangerous than A moderate program of effective and pure hormone as supervised by a medical professional.

You should try exercises that will help you become mentally stronger - Yoga, Meditation, Polar Bear Swim, even Chess. Having more mental discipline will lead into being able to diet more effectively without crashing psychologically.

I am going to assume you are younger due to some of the meds you are taking. Antidepressants can cause weight gain and making loosing weigh more difficult depending on the ones you are taking (talk to your doc). Ask the doc that gives you the adderal if you can try Vyvance instead, it is also prescribed for weight loss so that might help. If you are looking for a hormone that might help I would recommend Proviron if you can get it as it has been shown to be an antidepressant for men at higher doses and will help the testosterone you have now be more effective. Did they test your estrogen? High estrogen in men can lead to fat. Diet is always important and you may want to speak to seek the advice of a trainer or nutritionist or try the paleo or keto diet for a while and see if those help. Good luck.

There are non steroid "cutting" cycles but didn't list it here and I don't recommend it for you right now. Those effectively put a lot of stress on your heart and body. As you are over weight, it would not be a healthy option for you right now. The other thing is that such a cycle would be a bandaid to the real problem, which is your inability to control your eating.
The healthy option would be for you to go on a carb cycling diet or low carb diet and get your eating under control before you start a cycle to cut fat. My .02
