Quad Injections
So I have recently started doing quad injections along with my delt/glute injections to rotate more areas for rest/scar tissue purposes. This is my second time injecting into my quads. I went upper, outer. About halfway point between my knee and hip. After my first time doing so, I had some immense pain, specifically in my right quad, which I figured was do to virgin muscle. Just before the next round of quad shot, everything was at 100% again (roughly 5 days later). This time around, both legs hurt which I suspected was because it is still a newer muscle group I have started doing this in. However, this time I have some swelling on both quads, and some redness showing at both injection sites. It’s only slightly warm, not at all hot at the injection sites. This was 2.5 says ago that these injections happened. I did check my temperature, and it was 99.9, however I’m also currently sick so I don’t know if the slightly elevated temp is due to my cold or due to the injection. Yesterday at work, my upper legs to the top of my knees was definitely somewhat swollen. It hurts to try and squat, walk around etc. it is significantly better, I have been taking hot showers and lightly nassaging the area, and have kept my legs elevated when off of my feet. I also did leg day immediately after the injection, as I have done even with the first time I injected quads. Any idea if I should be worried?

I wouldn't be worried. If you continue to have issues then you could reevaluate
I would be injecting higher up, where your pant pocket would be. The muscle is deepest there with less nerve endings compared to mid quad.Last edited by Windex; 12-03-2019 at 04:21 PM.

not commenting about being worried but....
I inject where the bottom of the front pocket of jeans would be.
Quads are actually my favorite with glutes being next.

Hey Dog,
are you suggesting that the injection site should be more towards the front of the quad, or to the outside? Also, I believe that GearHeaded has stated in a recent post that he pins with 1/2 inch darts. What is your recommendation?
Thanks in advance for the response.

I gotta get back into quads. I went through a period where I was getting painful injections where I got scared and pulled the needle out and just did my delts instead. Plus they said inject where the bottom of your pockets are, but I sag my pants so I hit my kneecaps.

I do like Deadlifting Dog. If I go further down, I get pain. I also do site injections so I use a slin pin.

So far I've never had PIP in the quads, but I do what everyone else here is saying, sort of like the front pocket area. I go a little more to the side. I'm just doing my best to avoid hitting a nerve. That's my biggest fear with pinning.

I have been curious about this myself. Anecdotally speaking, every time that I have done delt injections right before hammering them with upright rows or high pulls, I end up getting a lot of puking from the muscle into the fascia. I end up with pooled oil hanging out around the bottom where the muscle connects.
Never had it happen with quad pins, but it damned sure happens with my side delts.

cant reach glutes, delts I bleed like stuck pig from the thousands of shots before, quads, fucking gamble.
either smooth or you will jump like you got shocked with 10k volts.
use chest or lats, much easier.

I always bleed from delts if I go above a certain point. That point is right above where the shoulder head meets the tricep/bicep. If I stay within 1cm above that line, I don’t bleed. If I go above it, it’s bleeding season.
Quads I’m starting to feel the same way about. It just takes that one bad shot to make you never want to do them again. I didn’t have quite the experience of that type of shock, but I had it where it felt very weird and my muscle twitched and the syringe turned 90 degrees.

I've only pinned quads 3 times and I use that "pocket region" after spending like an hour looking at all the nerve pathways. But it looks like even there, there might be a slight danger of hitting a nerve. I know if I hit a nerve once, I'm never going there again
