Cholesterol is a very complicated topic. Here is one of the best articles that I've read on the topic.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3utYm3ouzaU Cholesterol Synthesis Pathway.
Chol is formed from Acetyl CoA - from glucose and its metabolites, and Acetoacetyl CoA - from the breakdown of carbs and lipids.
The chol which causes a problem is from to much serum (meaning - "in the blood") that forms deposits in cells. Eating cholesterol contributes only a small part of the deposits, mostly the deposits are formed from saturated (animal) and trans fats (animal).

Your only real issue, imho, is triglycerides. You should be able to cut them in half.
Total Chol really doesn't matter that much and yours is in range anyway.
HDL is low but still solid. I'd love to have that number.
A good indicator of cardiac risk is to divide your trig by your HDL. You want a low number, say 2 or less.
Did you get a CRP value by chance?
Phenomenal alt/ast values. I'd pay for those numbers.
Also, I'm assuming these were pulled on cycle?

Sorry, I stopped looking at this thread because I'm done arguing with and responding to IronLiver, and his opinions towards the link between fiber and vegetables lowering cholesterol (not lowering in his opinion) are false, and dangerous to someone who is looking to lower theirs. It's fact, and easily verifiable by reading any of the hundreds of peer reviewed articles on the subject - or just eating more and watching your cholesterol and triglycerides go down just like I did with no other changes. I'll send a PM to you.

Cardarine?
Has anyone seen any positive results on cholesterol using Cardarine (GW501516)?
I'm currently at the end of my first month using 10 mg Cardarine daily, specifically for cholesterol.
I'll post my results here after blood work in a few weeks.

Where did I say that fiber doesn't lower cholesterol? I mentioned that fiber has zero benefit because it is indigestible by humans. Humans and animals are not made out of fiber, we are made out of cholesterol. We are not designed to require fiber. Adding fiber to your diet will not cure any health problem, because it doesn’t get to the root of the problem.

I only came here to unsubscribe to this thread. I can't keep up with your level of stupid.
Fiber lowers total cholesterol, lowers LDL cholesterol, raises HDL cholesterol, therefore it has benefit. I explained exactly how it does this to you: You are stupid
From a biological standpoint humans are made up of water, from a chemical standpoint humans are made up of mostly oxygen and 5 other elements. We are not made out of cholesterol: You are stupid
No we do not require fiber to live, we require fiber to live longer: You are stupid
Adding fiber will not cure any health problem, it will prevent them: You are half-way stupid.
I'm unsubscribed now, so I'm out for good.

I'm not overly concerned about the alleged side effects of Cardarine. I think they are exaggerated until more concrete data comes out.
In terms of carcinogens, aluminum is one of the top carcinogens yet most people cook with aluminum pots/pans, use aluminum foil, and have aluminum cooking gadgets.
Heck, a few years ago the WHO determined working graveyard shifts has the same magnitude of toxicity as a carcinogen like smoking.I no longer check my inbox. If you PM me I will not reply.

Lipoprotein-a is the lipid associated plaque build up and narrowing of all blood vessels. One of the effects is reduced O2 and nutrients to all tissues, ...very bad for any form of athleticism, including body building. Lipoprotein-a is the carrier protein for the uncontroversially bad cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein.
-
Lipoprotein-a is not tested for in standard blood tests but is an easy test.
-
A lipid panel is still important but testing for Lipoprotein-a may give one a better understanding of their cardiovascular health.

If my doc wanted to put me on cholesterol lowering drugs and my lipoprotein-a (Lpa) were low, I'd likely refuse.

OP,
I've had issues with low HDL, high LDL and high triglycerides from cycling and I've experimented with a bunch of things other than statins to try to get my numbers in range.
I've tried cardarine, high dose fish oil and a supplement called Lipid Stabil to try and lower my numbers. Cardarine did not have any affect on my lipid levels. Fish oil increased my LDL. Lipid stabil slightly lowered my ldl and total cholesterol. When I go off cycle, my hdl typically goes into range but my LDL and triglycerides stay the same. What really worked for me to significantly lower my triglycerides, total cholesterol and LDL was taking high dosages of vitamin D (7,000 per day) and doing HIIT cardio (heavy bag training) twice per week in addition to lifting.
My on cycle blood test :
Total- 196
Triglycerides - 164
Hdl-32
Ldl- 131
I was only taking 500mg of test e for 6 weeka at this time. I took 3 grams of fish oil per day. I also took 20mg of Cardarine per day. I did cardio 2-3 times per week and walked on the treadmill or 10 minutes everyday. My numbers were shit.
Last week (a little under 2 months off cycle):
Total- 176
Triglycerides-75
Hdl-43
LDL- 118
I dropped the cardarine, fish oil and lipid stabil. I have only been taking vitamin d and doing HIIT cardio. My diet is the exact same (vertical diet so eggs and lots of ground beef). No change in lifting. My body weight is 232lbs down from 238ish.Last edited by gymrat702; 02-12-2020 at 05:54 PM.
