    Fasting before BW

    Hi,

I am getting my BW done later this week and the recommendation obviously is to fast 12-14 hours prior to labs. I am checking hormone panel for men, among other values I want to see my baseline total/free T. If I don't fast for the 12-14 hours prior, how much will my lab values be thrown off...I know its different for everyone, but is it a significant change if I don't fast or is it a slighter change? I could fast if I thought I absolutely needed to, to get accurate results, but my appt isn't til mid morning and I hate not eating for that long, but I'm interested in your input...thank you

I wasn't told to fast for mine . They have new blood test that do not require fasting for triglycerides or cholesterol

for the most accurate results you need to not train for a few days, not eat for 8-10 hours, and be very well hydrated . being you only get blood work a couple times a year, why not do it right

If it's just hormones being tested you don't need to fast at all.

Ok, thanks fellows. I've never had hormone levels checked so I'm very curious to see where I'm at. I ran a handful of cycles in my early 20s like a dumbass and never did BW. I'm 34 now so I want to see where I'm at and go from there...BW here I come!

I would fast and get everything checked out, including lipid panel & glucose *which do require fasting*.

What’s the reason for not training?

More accurate results not skewed by the body's response to muscular trauma (training). Most directly would be liver values (ALT/AST) which can elevate multiple times over normal values to supraphysiological levels simply due to hard training.

    I can't call it.

But I can say with some certainty that a cell phone won't hinder take off or landing instruments in a debilitating manner. LOL. Don't ask me how I know this.

Gh, perhaps just hydrated. If people misunderstand and over-hydrate, they may skew their CBC figures including H&H.

Training also affects kidney function tests.
