Legality varies according to location, so we can't say for sure. But you'll be just fine, just be careful where you buy those peptides from. A lot of vendors sell crap that is either fake or totally underdosed (just like UGLs)

It's legal to order peptides online with a prescription. Majority of risk is with the seller of the drugs.

Don't sweat it. If anyone asks, these are for purely research purposes and not for human use. The lab rats do well on quality products.

Assuming you are in the US that is. No clue about other countries.

You don't have to disclose your research methods. If it ever got to a point where somebody of importance was asking you these types of questions, you should be exercising your right to remain silent.
