This is the best way to open the amp. The other ways may cause you to break the amp in your hands.

I had the SAME problem. Couldnt open the damn thing. I finally got a steak knife and started cutting the thing on one side until it felt a little rough. Then the pen cap thing. Works OK.
If not, get a sawz all and have at it
