    Unbearable mid/upper back pumps

I’m on a test/primo cycle and My back pumps are wild. I feel it toward the middle of my lats near the spine. I don’t have any slipped discs or other spinal issues (that I know of), and I use proper form while working out.

When I shift my pelvis forward and lean back a liiitle, the pain goes away. It’s almost like my upper back is supporting a great load than it should.

I’ve seen other threads about this, but not many answers. Some people think it may be kidney related, but I disagree. I’ve had kidney pain in the past, and this feels totally different. Also, kidney pain doesn’t radiate this high up the lats...it starts in the lower back and radiates out around the obliques, in my experience.

    Any thoughts?

What has worked for me is supplementing with 5g Taurine everyday. I will also add another 5g before I train on leg days. As a just Incase.

    But...

If you are using larger dosages. You may be stuck with dealing with the pain.

PS. I've only ever gotten back pumps with the addition of orals. Are you using anything else at all?

It’s blood, water and nitrogen being forced into the muscles and fascia. Taurine works for some, also potassium, calcium and electrolytes. Watching your sodium intake can help in order to reduce water weight which causes edema and more pressure/pumps. Orals are definitely notorious because of their fast action but I can get screaming pumps on injectables too. Even when you do all you can, what makes steroids so great also comes at a cost and that’s the pain of muscle pumps.

I board a lot in the winter and even on TRT, my calves feel like they’re going to explode, some days it’s almost unbearable. Do what you can to maximize your success but know it’s also part of the game…

I was taking anavar too, but I dropped it a couple of weeks ago.

It’s hard to describe exactly how it feels, but it’s not like the normal pump I feel during a workout. It’s more like a dull and deep pain/ache around the thorax.

I’ll add taurine to my daily supps and lower my sodium intake, but I also set up an appt with a chiropractor. My mid back is really bowed out, and when I do bilateral shoulder movements (face pulls, etc) I noticed my delts are slanted.

    Will report back w/ results.

    Merry Christmas!

Could be postural then, I was just assuming from the title it was “roid pumps”. Hopefully there’s nothing more sinister going on underneath. Best of luck!

What's a roid pump feel like? My lower back gets insanely tight after doing volume work during squats and deadlifts. I've had lower back issues and was worried it was acting up again. But get no pain going heavier for less reps. The tightness is so bad I have to just sit down for like 30 min and then finish the workout cause even walking becomes difficult lol

Possibly a subluxated rib. Any hard hits recently or a pinching sensation around your ribs?

Hydrate, try taurine, potassium rich foods such as avacado, etc. Deload for a few weeks. Try deep tissue massage, particularly for the back muscles.

Try this. It works for me when back pumps are intense. I have advanced arthritis in my hip/SI joint and low back problems due to... Well, bad choices.

Lay flat on your back. Raise feet up (on a bench is fine). Brace your trunk lightly making your back flat to the ground.

But if pumps are unbearable... Take less drugs.
