HCG stimulating Thyroid?

So go my bloodwork back and for the first time ever my thyroid levels have dropped to really good levels. I have hypothyroidism and treat that with Synthorid. See attahced for reference.

I'm on script TRT and have been using HCG on the side to save my nuts. Outside of HCG, I can't think of any other reason why my thyroid levels came down so low, which I'm not complaining about because they're usually bordering on the high.

Could the HCG be boosting my thyroid?

Yes, HCG can impact the thyroid. Take a look on Pubmed.

Hcg binds with TSH but most of the concern around that interaction is hypothyroidism. You’re experiencing the opposite…interesting.

"In conclusion, hCG has thyroid-stimulating activity that influences thyroid function early in pregnancy when hCG levels are high. Excessive hCG secretion may cause hyperthyroidism in patients with hyperemesis gravidarum or trophoblastic tumors."

"hCG — human chorionic gonadotropin —the major hormone produced by the placenta which is closely related to thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). hCG can bind to the TSH receptors present in thyroid tissue and act like a weak form of TSH to cause the thyroid to produce and release more thyroxine and triiodothyronine."

However, it's referencing women/pregnancy... So would this still be relevant?

Hcg and TSH interaction isn’t gender dependent. It’s obviously more prevalent in pregnancies (which is why the studies are authored that way). Again though it’s dealing with hyperthyroidism, which is why I’m not sure your drop is due to hcg.

So you have been diagnosed with hypothroidism and prescribed synthroid and the blood work usually comes back high end normal for free T4? Was your TSH not low with treatment? Was it low prior to treatment? There are differing causes of hypothyroidism so these distinctions are important.
