Minoxidil oral preparation is cheaper, more effective, and usually covered partially by insurance compared with topical. It is more systemically acting and can increase hair growth everywhere. It is relatively safe, while Finasteride and Dutasteride can be quite dangerous, including promoting high grade prostatic cancers. They also will have little effect on AAS (non-testosterones). Bloodwork will be needed to track DHT levels.

That's been debunked to be not true about the cancer

The way I interpreted the research, and I have seen this elsewhere, too, so it's not some rando observation that I cooked up is, in short:

Finasteride can give men a false sense of security and they opt not to do the DRE, because their raw PSA score doesn't warrant it. This leads to discovering prostate cancer at a later date, thus the incidence of severe prostate cancer is out of whack with the typical finasteride user.

I do not believe that finasteride causes cancer, though I think it is over prescribed both in number of patients and in dosing. That's a different issue, but indicative of the somewhat lackadaisical attitude regarding 5 alpha reductase inhibitors among the general population.

    Just one man's opinion...
