acne is gone instanly in 48 hours
Every time I go to my dermatologist he injects a steroid directly into the pimples and they are gone in about 48 hours does anybody know what the name of the steroid is and if it's possible to attain it? My dermatologist is really stingy with it. I would love to get some and get rid of all these damn pimples.

A doctor is obligated to tell you what medication he is using on you.

dont try to self administer cortisone shots, they cause degeneration of connective tissue....you must have a really bad case of acne to get cortisone shots only for acne they are usually for serious injuries
there are safer alternatives to this method, I'd recommend you see a new dermatologist

I had a similar injection the first time I had a cyst come up. The derms charge out the ass for them, $95 a shot where I went. I wonder if its available from canada like everything else, a nice sub-q shot would be nice to have if you have bad luck and an interview coming up or something.

the cortisone shots are usually administered to nodular acne,(cyst like) and are not considered dangerous if injections sites are isolated. Cortisone essentially reduces swelling and that is 80% of cystic acne.

best ways and safest to control acne are antibiotics (proper usage that is), tanning, showering multiple times daily, using a loofa if you have body acne, vitamin b5 (high dosages), and using an acne wash (I like proactiv personally).
The antibiotics I would save for last, I am told you can go to most pet stores and pickup tetracycline, the same stuff they prescribe for acne. It's for fish though but supposidly its the same thing. A friend told me about it, I havent checked it out personally yet but good thing to have up your sleeve. He recommended 500mg before bed.
Another tip a friend gave me was to use tea tree oil on zips to help dry them up.
Not all of these tips seem to work for everyone. For some certain foods set it off (i.e. caffeine, other stimulants, chocolate, sugar, etc.)

I found out from big Kev from anabolic freaks that it is cortizone. He thinks it's called Triamcinolone but when we did a search at some of the pharmacies it doesn't show that it's cortizone. Does anybody know the actual drug name of the cortizone or know where it can be got hit me with a pm. If this is against the rules I'll delete the post.

My dermo was talking about injecting some oil in my chest (have some bad acne between my pecs.) Probably the same stuff you are talking about. I might have to try it out.

The substance is not kenalog. It is cortisone! Kenalog is for allergies.

You can order this crap online from Canada, it doesn't say if you need a scrip for it or not. Since I'm lazy, I'll leave that up to you to find out.
I hope this is within board rules as this is a legal site selling prescription and non-perscription products to USA and Canada. If in violation of board rules, me sorry.

All the sites I've been to requires a prescription. I wonder if it can be obtained overseas. The generic name for Kenolog is Triamcinolone.

Though I have not had it done, I am certain it must be "triamcinolone." This is a steroid that docs inject for acne.
Yes, as others have stated, you should always ask your doctor what you want to know. S/he should tell you. If not, demand that you are more than a "lab rat" and must be an active participant in your health.
