Honestly, unless you don't have much body fat, a 1" will work, but most bro's including myself will tell you to use 1" 1/2

well the reason i ask is that im a pretty solid guy 6' 190 about 8% but i dont have a big ass i just dont wanna be diggin too deep and start hitting vital blood vessels or minor nerves or anything along those lines !

Yup, you got to be pretty lean before I would recommend a 1-incher in the rear. the are fine for quads and delts though.

You'lll be fine with an 1" 1/2.
