The US laws?

Hi guys

Im from the UK and over here the law stands as follows regarding AS...
They are a class C drug which means you CANT get done for using them but you can get in trouble for selling them.

I think this is reasonably fair.
But i was wondering why it is that over your side of the pond, in the us, the police are handing out jail sentences for users! and large sentences at that!! I wondered what their reasoning behind this was?

I think that steroids should be made legal. and the government(s) should do more to educate people about the SAFE use of steroids!
You hear so many times on this board of people who have suddenly decided to get some AS and started using them without even looking what the drug does!!
Let alone how to cycle it!!
