HRT cause?
How do you get into a situation where you need HRT?
Is it something which, like hair loss, is genetic or is it self inflicted in some way??

I'm no expert but just from what I've read the past year or two it looks like normal genetic variability in some people and, unfortunately, gear use in others.

Some signs of possible testosterone deficiency (and possibly the need for HRT) are:
- Decreased sex drive (poor libido)
- Problem obtaining and maintaining erections
- Increased depression
- Fatigue (Get tired easily)
- Inability to concentrate
- Decline in memory and cognitive skills
- Decreased muscle mass and strength
- Loss of body hair
- Smaller, softer testes
- Decreased bone mass that may lead to osteoporosis
- Abdmonial fat (Pot Belly)
- Pectoral (Breast) fat
- Psychological symptoms: such as swinging mood, depression, anxiety, lack of vitality and sleep problems.

I just heard something on NPR that cleared a question about HRT up for me. It said that the standard proceedure of doctors today is to not recommend HRT unless there's hypogonadism -i.e. small nuts.
So apparently most docs won't give test shots unless there's hypogonadism, even if a person tests low on testosterone .

The odd thing the doc on NPR said was that while they've proven that hormone replacement has health benefits in women they haven't even gotten that far for men yet, let alone finding what potential harmful sides there may be.

My doc put me on HRT (at my request) for depression that wasn't cured by Zoloft or Paxil. I told him later that it gave me the drive to go to the gym...so thats why I'm bigger every time I go in...a nice side effect I say...
