make sure you are doing a lot of hamstring work, quad, and lower back work. Also work on your mechanics, ie. high-knee runs, speed skips, knee down butt-kicks, etc. You want to improve the mechanic of your stride so that your form is down pat. make sure your knees are high yet under you w/ your toe cocked up when doing this. Being able to bring the knees high consistently will lengthen your stride. Also make sure your arms are not crossing over your body. Once you get this form of your stride down, next comes stride frequency. the longer your strides coupled with the strength to get through your stride cycle quicker (leg strength) will make you a much faster person in time. ----also there are little tricks when being timed such as making sure that your feet are as close to your hand which must be on the line when you are starting. Perfecting your starting stance can allow you to gain a full step out of the blocks. there are some more things (plyos, etc.) but these are the basics. Hope that helps a bit

Strech alot and work your calves too if you don't already. The stretching will open up your stride.

my goal is to break 4.6, but i dunno if i can do it...i would be happy with 4.59 or under
    the 4.65 was last summer
that isnt an unrealistic goal i dont think

i do a lot of speed training and strength shoes type work outs and im just wondering if there were any other ways to improve my speed..i honestly dont know what 40 time i run now because i havent been timed in a yr

Working on your start out of the blocks should drop your time to where you want it. What position do you play?

4.59 at linebacker would be nasty man. you can get it, its not far off especially if you ran that 4.65 on grass over a year ago. Strength+flexibility+mechanics and man you got it
