Dextrose is everything BUT corn starch.
Dextrose is corn sugar.

If i'm not mistaken Dextrose (the one you want) is a crystalized form of corn syrup, which is a converted form of corn starch.
So in other words, just buy it online. Now brand is like 4 bucks for 2 lbs. Save the starch for the next time you make some muffins or chowder.
Dextrose is a pure crystalline corn sugar that is created in a reaction between corn starch and an enzyme, which is then refined for purity. Just like SC said, Dextrose is a long way from being corn starch. Corn starch is the raw material you are left with when you remove fiber, germ, and proteins from corn. Dextrose is also not crystallized corn syrup. Although the method used to form corn syrup does involve an acid and enzyme reaction with corn starch, it is not the same product as Dextrose.
