of course i am way to lazy for it, well with the advent of chain saws and all, but i know a couple guys who like to chop wood.
Any physical activity,can build muscle, i've never seen a fat hod carrier! not sure that throwing stones will work though!
Dragging a sled and carrying a bag of sand as far as I can carry it will do wonders for anyone. I like doing strange stuff to keep things interesting.

I throw my wives and concubines back and forth with my bros. Pretty good work out, especially with the fat ones.
I used to work for UPS. Trust me... unloading aircraft containers full of boxes 8 hours a day, 5 days a week will definately build your overall strength. I'm a big fan of unconventional training.
Jesse Marunde says he does unconventional "strongman" type lifts all year round (tire flips, farmers carry, etc...), and he's a strong mofo!
Throw freight all night, big ass furnature in boxes.
