l-dex is what i use to combat water retention....i believe it throws you cholesterol levels off (ie increasing LDL and/or decreasing HDL)

after further review, due to lowered estrogen levels, it COULD eventually affect cholesterol, but this should not be a major concern (info courtersy of hooker)

Not only are your cholesterols screwed up but water retension is the primary function that gives you your gains... so trying to defeat water retension is going to cause you to get fewer gains. Also once the cycle is over, there is nothing else to do, the water goes away quickly on its own.
