If you got the safety syringes, with the hard plastic sleeve that runs the length of the barrel, you'll have to take a look at it to see what actually "locks" the sleeve forward, shielding the pin. You usually can use somethin' to pry that part loose, allowing the barrel shield to slide back, but for future reference, in our useage, those types really aren't necessary.

In the medical field, those syringes are almost double the price as regular syringes, and I'm sure that whoever you're gettin' them from, if you're payin' for em, is passin' on the higher cost to you.
