    Question subway for PPWO?....considering....

hey guys, just curious, for your post workout ur supposed to have the complex carbs with protien....would a 6 inch chicken breast sub, extra meat, on whole wheat bread along with lettuce and tomatoes and some mustard and swiss cheese be alright for PPWO?....

if the veggies are a "no no"....i have no problem cancelling them out.....

hm, iv done this a few times when i was back in Uni...

I wouldnt really do this on a regular basis, only if you were really stuck and had no avaliable food.

Cancel out the cheese for sure though.

Why not something like a 6 inch Chicken Teriyaki Double Meat on Honey Oat with sweet onion sauce? That should give you something close to your macronutrient goals while also having a bit of complex carbs and simple sugars while limiting fat intake. Is it optimal and ideal? Probably not. Is it the best fast food choice? Probably.

Subways meats are loaded with fats, this would not be a good idea IMO....Plus if you are cutting bread is most def not ideal either, nor would the swiss cheese. Plain and simple Subway is not healthy, is it healthier than McDonalds, for sure....Save it for your cheat days!

I don't see anything wrong with your chicken sub just cut out the cheese since that is a source of fat. I don't know what you mean by extra meat, just stick with the chicken breast. Subway does have a nutritional guide available that tells you their chicken has 25g of protein in them.

if the bread is truly whole grain(and not just bread where they tossed in a few whole grains into the flour when baking it)and no fat is added then its a good ppwo meal.

Whole grain bread has a gi comperable to brown rice so I wouldnt know why it would be a bad choise realy. Veggies are ok to use. But cheese or antyhing like that has to go.

thanks for the comments guys, i will cut the cheese....leave that for the cheat days, and when i say extra meat, i mean double up on it...instead of one chicken breast get 2 on the sub...its a lot better IMO....i do it all the time

Glad to see someone else had a sensible response.

For whatever reason people neglect the fact that insulin spikes even during PPWO are beneficial. There is a huge case study showing that insulin elevation is your goal up to 4 hours after your workout. Adding fat and a large quantity of fiber (>6g or so) will only hinder this.

The real question here is how good is the protein source from Subway.

None of them are good, they all suck because they are processed/formed/etc.

The bread issue, well, if you are one who can use bread in your diet and have it work for you positively, then go for it because it's a carb.

Fat, well, I'd keep it low as possible here of course, and you are able to do what with no mayo, oil, cheese.

So, it boils down to how good the protein source really is and how much you can include bread in your diet.

is "subway" a reference to some kind of fast food chain that sells subway sandwiches or just a name for long kind of bread one makes a subway out of??

Buying anything premade is never good so I agree with swhole on that one. But making one yourself would be good. I though you where talking about making one at home

I doubt that the bread is whole grain, but I love subway when I am bulking in the winter.
