    Arrow FRUIT!!! the trute about it!!!!!!

    Ok guys.... this is my current diet...... just want to know if I can take fruits in this diet..... and at which meal should I take which fruit?? ( I am making a lean muscle gain kind of diet)
    here aresome fruits I like
    banana, apple, grapes,watermelon,grapefruit,orange,peach

    meal 1
    6am 5 egg whites omlette with turkey ham and cheese
    22gms protein shake
    25grms oatmeal

    meal 2
    8am 2 slices of wholemeal bread
    turkey breast and edem chesse
    15ml flax seed oil

    meal 3
    10am 1 can of tuna with salad
    1 yogurt

    meal 4
    12.15pm chicken breast
    1 cup rice
    5ml flax seed oil

    meal 5
    2.30pm 42gms protein shake

    meal6
    4.45pm steak
    2 spoons oatmeal

    meal 7
    5.30pm workout

    meal 8
    7.15 one meal replecment protein shake (vitamins and carbs included)
    *(I think I can have some kind of fruit here)

    meal 9
    9.30 chicken breast with salad
    4 caramel rice cakes

    Fruits would probably se best suited in the morning when Liver glycogen is depleted as well as Pre Workout if you'd like.

    Very true i usually eat fruits after my morning workout, has the day goes on i switch to veggies.

    stick with strawberries for getting cut, and raisans/figs for adding mass

    That's far too general, there are many good fruits to use when cutting or bulking not just those 3.

    OK, EVERYONE JUST CHILL THE FVCK OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I wouldn't think fruit would be a bad thing post work out. It's in a pro/carb meal, so it fits in fine.

    fruit is not a bad thing post work out, if your looking for some fast acting sugar go buy some sweet-tarts they are mainly dextrose

    fruits go to the liver not muscles so dont use them as a carb source to replenish glycogen

    Fruit has very little Fructose which is the sugar that is processed primarily in the liver. It would not do much harm to have fruit as the rest of the carbs from fruit are not fructose.

    funny this was bumped cause I just got back from the gym and two different dudes, one an olypic athlete SWEAR by a banana immidiately post weights and cardio...

    Alot of people swear by hi GI (like a banana) PWO. If I eat fruit while watching my diet I eat it as my last meal before I workout or I'll throw a banana in my shake PWO. (Please don't kill yourself)

    Honestly though ive been told that it is never a bad idea to eat bananas...that you could eat bananas whenever the hell you want and it wont put on any excess weight...anyone got any info on this?

    they will be in my first meal of the day...prob. it...maybe Post training in the pm, but fornow, in my cc w/ oats after cardio.........sound good?

    Bananas are good PWO to help rebalance the sodium potassium pump in your muscles....just someone cutting may not want the unneccessary carbs from the banana....

    Of course, fruits are good for you! You just can't go hog wild and eat them all damn day but they a still a good source of carbs. The amount of fructose in fruits is usually quite small, so no worries.

    fruits are great I love fruits its the only food I can still have while cutting that I enjoy alot.

    "Any muscle emptied of glycogen due to exercise is first on the list to get its quota of glucose. Clearly, one of the keys to effectively restoring glycogen is the type of carbohydrate you eat. Natural, complex carbohydrates such as potatoes, yams, whole grains, corn, legumes or maltodextrin-based drinks like our Pro-Carb™ Formula do a better job at this than simple sugars do. In one study, a diet high in starchy carbohydrates restocked more glycogen in the muscles 48 hours after exercise than simple sugars did. If you eat simple sugars like fructose, you're not going to be able to store as much glycogen.

    Fructose is used primarily to restore liver glycogen; it's really not a good re-supplier of muscle glycogen.     that is true G-Force but restoring muscle glycogen as rapidly as possible by spiking blood sugar is not needed unless your planing on doing something strenous shortly after your workout.

    That's if you Liver glycogen stores are totally full, which is almost never. Whenever your body needs to maintain blood sugar during times of not eating (between meals, overnight) liver glycogen provides blood sugar for the body. The chances that fructose from fruit can cause fat gain is highly improbable.

    i have heard that it takes very little to replenish liver glycogen though
    ie just one piece of fruit, and it usually only depleteed in the mornings, so any more than this surely could be stored as fat?

    any truth here?

    the liver stores about 100grams so it would take around 5 apples to fill it if its completely depelated and assuming everything gets stored.

    Johan, actually I belive the liver stores about 50g. I'll look it up though. And G-Force, liver glycogen is used at all times of the day to maintain blood sugar. Muscle glycogen is only used by the muscle that store it so its the livers job to provide the body with proper blood sugar. I belive a single apple contains about 7g of fructose so you'd need to eat about 8 of them at one sitting for any chance of adipose storage.

    but dont the other simple sugars other than fructose help to fill up liver glycogen?
