    Prednisone to bulk??

    Anyone ever used Prednisone to bulk up? It is a mild steroid that is used for inflammation or allergic reactions mostly.

    I used it a couple years ago with fast gains but horrible experiences.

    I got strep throat after 3 weeks followed by sever flu and head cold. Went to ER finally before my throat swollen up and closed completely. Was treated for strep throat. The doc gave me something to kill the bacteria that caused the strep. My tongue shed completely while on meds. As a result, I now have a white paste on my tongue that never goes away. My doctor thought it was oral thrush, but did a culture test to reveal that it was not. She has no clue what it is, nor do my dentists and do not know how to treat it.

    My only relief is to brush my tongue 2 times a day to keep it under control.

    Any ideas?

    no wrong all together ... that is a anti imflamitory ... takes out the swelling of things thats all... ibuprophen makes your body produce the same thing thats how it takes away the swelling ... not for bulking or cutting or anyother means of growth ...

    as far as your tongue ... keep on brushing and use mouth wash ... everytime you eat or drink something and you can brush ... then brush ... im not a doctor but i stayed in a holiday inn express last night .. just kidding ... it will probably go away just take care of it...

    I have a medical condition and some times have to take this drug, any gains i got where fat, i didnt gain any muscle and i was on high dosages and instead of me explain why you shouldnt take this to gain muscle ill just cut and paste info in here from a Dr. Online.

    Prednisone
    This is a catabolic steroid that slows the loss of muscle degeneration. It is the drug most widely used to treat DMD. In some cases walking may be prolonged for up to two years or more. Not only is muscle loss halted but its strength and function also improve dramatically. Unlike anabolic steroids taken by athletes and body builders, catabolic steroids do not build up tissue but instead break it down.

    I gained a quick 10 lbs while taking it but was tapering up to 10 a day and then back down but before I got back down I got really sick.

    I read many places that Prednisone weakens the immunity dramatically. My dentist say that strep bacteria is always present but our bodies have a good defense against it except for when on Prednisone in the manner that I was.

    Prednisone is used for inflamation as I blow up every time I have to use it (water) for my sinus infections when they get back.

    I've never heard of anyone getting anything but bloated on it... I hate it.

    It has been over 2 years now. I just wont go away. I have an appointment with an ear, nose, throat specialist next month. Hopefully he can conclude something.

    I tappered it too reason being you cant just drop off cause your imune system is weak and must build up strength by lowering the prednisone dosage, also the health problem you are orginally take it for could come back, and the weight you gained wasnt muslce sorry to break it too you. water weight/ fat

    Always go to a specialist with that kind of stuff.

    Thrush, you'd know it... I got it off an asthma med once and I refuse to take it again because of it...

    My ENT only uses Prednisone when we absolutely have to because it bloats me (and most people) so bad.

    I got it from my ex g/f who never took it when the doc told her to. It was never prescribed.

    I used to have the same thing om my tongue its a bacteria balance problem! You need this stuf called PRO - BIOTICS ACIDOPHILUS you can get it at any health food store like gnc, let it dissolve on your tongue etc... I'm a terrible asthmatic, since I was about 2, really bad!!! I've used prednisone off and on my whole life, its for the lungs! It stop the production of mucus from blocking the air ways also known as asthma!!! It makes my face swell up like a ballon!!!! Its really hard on your system even more then DBOl or ABOMB! The doc would only let me stay on it for 2 wks when i had nemonia(SP) etc......

    Doc put me on Prednisone once awhile back. That sh*t made me soooo hungry. I'd eat all day and not get full. I gained about 10 lbs of fat which took way too long to get rid of.

    My hunger while on that shit was unreal. I remember eating a whole large dominos pizza myself and still feeling hungry but also feeling all of it crammed in my gut.

    Did you know anything about this drug before taking it or did you just assume it would make you big?
    Prednisone is not a drug to mess around with, staying on to long can cause serious damage to your health.
    I know from expierience as I have a prescription for the drug and dont wanna take it a longer than the doc tells me.
    All the weight you gained was water or fat.

    i used that stuff on my dog when she was swolen up from an illergic reaction from something i read about it and never would even have thought of taking it did you like go to the vet or something and perscribed your dog or cat on a STEROID and thought to use it??

    I laughed my ass off while reading this thread. Prednisone is catabolic and anti-inflammatory. The weight you gained is purely water weight and you got sick b/c is decreased your immune systems ability to fight infection.

    You really should read up on any drug before you go ahead and put it into your body.

    i get this white paste all the time, i dont know what it is but my girlfriend was the 1 who pointed it out to me & made me notice it more. all i did was brush the tongue like i always do but just a little more longer & harder then it goes away. the only thing i can think that caused this for me is that i used to be a heavy smoker & a hard liquor drinker which could've striped away a coating or something on the tongue. i dont get it.

    I'm with ya DOC. Anybody who has any brain in there head is going to do some serious research before they go putting some unknown medication in their body. Just like he said, prednisone will only cause catabolic reactions within your body. Hence, you were destroying your chances of putting on any lean muscle. Although, you probalby made out pretty well with the "moon face". Sorry for being so technical. GUYS, BE CAREFUL!!!

    I was a little familiar with it before I started taking it to bulk up. 1 year prior my doctor prescribed it to get rid of some hives I had because an alergic reaction I had to food. All's I heard him say at the time was "steroid" and it turned me on. So I was all over it again in the story I described above to find out that it comes with problems.

    And oh btw. It's not just for dogs or animals smart ass like some of the other gear that many people use is.

    The bulking by cortico's are water retention and fat. It is catabolic as well(this means you loose muscle).

    I just got prescribed to it due to a rash on my back. I went to the doc for cellulitis from an inject in my delt. turns out the gear is dirty, As soon as he saw my back he asked if I was taking steroids. Told me prednisone will make it hard to sleep and make me eat alot.
