any opinions on gatorade?
Is it good to replace electrolytes after intense cardio, or bad b/c it has all that sugar?

After intense cardio, yes it is a good drink.
if by intense cardio you mean you are going for cardiovascular conditioning and not the low intensity fat burning then i would say yeah its cool.Originally Posted by derek7m
Unless you are exercising for 90 minutes or more at high intensity gatorade is unnecessary. It's really not necessary to replace losses of sodium, potassium and other electrolytes during exercise since you're unlikely to deplete your body's stores of these minerals during normal training. Besides, I don't think an intense cardio session will deplete glycogen levels enough to warrant such a drastic insulin spike. If fat-loss is your goal, I'd definately pass on the gatorade and reach for a bottle of water.

gatorade is good for 2 reasons mainly. Sodium and Potassium. Two very important minerals that need to be put back into the body after sweating for long periods of time that water cannot provide.
I agree - but you don't have to jeopordize your waistline to replace both minerals. There are better choices available- such as supplements, bananas, salted almonds, etc...

Look on any Gatorade bottle and it bashes water, I find that strange; but I see the reasoning. The average person (or even bodybuilder/powerlifter) never really needs it tho.Originally Posted by Lavinco
