Got home last night. I'm so glad to be back in the U.S. You take sooo many things for granted. Taking a shower without shoes, walking 5 steps to the bathroom instead of 500 feet....in another building, a quiet meal, home prepared food...

I missed everyone. I missed my buds here, my internet access, my bed, my hottub and my own kitchen! I missed a LOT. I was in Doha, Qatar. No immediate danger at all. The base itself (Al Udied) had all the amenities of home ... but it wasn't home. There was a nice pool...not that I ever got to use it! Exchange, 24 hour dining facilites. Baskin Robbins, Dairy Queen, subway, Burger King, Pizza hut, a full service beauty shop, fitness center...complete with a day spa for massages. I never got a massage but I did go get manicure/pedicure twice.
The worst part I think was the heat and dirt. When I got there it was around 115 with ungodly humidity. The wind and dust made it even more miserable.
But as bad as all that was.....I wasn't getting shelled or shot at.
My group was not allowed off base liberty...which really sucked because everyone else was...but that was life.
Ok ... well that's it for now. Take care all!
