Ready for my smart-ass remark?
Coconut oil is good. Hydrogenated coconut oil is NOT (contains trans-fatty acids). Coconut oil contains no trans-fat and is best purchased as a "Virgin Cocout Oil". No refining, bleaching, or deodorizing is used in virgin oils.
All this being said...for the price, I'd stick with olive oil.
Not a good fat IMO. Just stick to flax, almonds, natty pb, fish oils, etc.
Well, i didn't know that. I always thought coconut was a duff fat.Originally Posted by Austex
If you could find a bottle on sale, it'd be worth picking up. The chain-structure of the fatty acids allows coconut oil to not "spoil" like other vegetable oils.

It contains ALOT of MCT's and MCT's have countless benificial effects. If I had to pic betwen coconut oil and olive oil as a fat source I would pic coconut anytime easily. MCT kills fungus and bacteria, boosts imune system, claimed to boost metabolism, gives quick energy ect ect ect...

Well choosing olive oil over coconut oil would be kind of like choosing olive oil over flax. Since they are meant to do 2 completely different things except beeing a source of energy. They are both non essential though so not using one wont present a problem. But both realy do have a place in a well balanced healthy diet.Originally Posted by steve0
