For Size, compounds VS isolated movements ?

It seems the more profession BB movies I download and watch I don't see any compounds expect squats.I also know this is the case daily in my gym as well. I have recently changed my routine to mainly compounds and only two isolated movements. For just sheer mass are isolated movements better then compounds ?

After i posted this i found this

    Swole

"Focus on HEAVY COMPOUND movements in the appropriate rep ranges for mass/strength. (Usually 6-8 for upper body, 12-15 for lower) Deads can be of both ranges. Make THESE movements the focus of your workout routines. Sounds painful, sounds "boring" because you can't look all pretty in the mirror doing concentration curls, but save that pretty sh*t for Friday nights."

I guess this is pretty much summing it up for me. I think i have it programming in my brain that isolated movement hit the muscle directly and are suppose to work better for mass. It's so hard changing bad habits.

for mass compounds exercises are better. i could be wrong but maybe the reason you said you see less compound exercises in professional BB videos is those guys pretty much have all the mass they want and are more so trying to maintain it. i think after you have the bulk/size you want you shape the muscle

Compound free weights are really all you need to grow. Done PROGRESSIVELY with proper diet and rest - you will gain. Isolation movements involve more advanced ways to fully fatique the targeted muscle... they have their place - but heavy compounds should always be your bread-and-butter movements for any routine... and not Hammer Strength - FREE WEIGHTS

Yep, all hammer strength machines should be destroyed IMO. All I need is a bar, dip bar, flat/incline benche, and a squat rack. Oh..and some dumbells (bigger than the 100lb maximum at my gym )

As you may notice b/b video are always filmed when the person is in good shape with real low B/F.

This is because the filming usually takes place 2-3 weeks out from a show.

The B/B has done his mass building phase of his training, and is now doing his Contest preparation training, carb depletion, ect, ect,
