Do I have an infection (Abscess)?

I am feeling warm all over. redness around the site of injection showed up 3 days after injection. Now, it has been 4 days since injection. Painful. I am injecting Test e 250 mg/ml from a UG. sounds like an infection or abscess to me. Worried! What do you guys think? Can I get Keflex without seeing a doc?

had a fever yesterday and then it went away and I am warm all over now. Yes, there is a lump that is painful to touch.

honestly, you will be aware when you have an abcess. you will runa fever and feel like shit. i had a staph infection twice and i couldnt do anything. my fever was too high and i had flu like symptoms. the area will be very warm and very red and it sometimes it will move bc it could be staph which means its in the blood. a lump will form. an abcess is like a pimple.

as pinnacle said its prob just regular inflammation. i usually get a fever after my first few shots bc u are puttinga foreign substance into your body

it takes about a two or three days in my case. you didnt shoot too much so thats not the problem. i would wait another day and see how it works out or look for some antibiotics now.

well if its going down, that is a good sign.... and if its not warm to the touch anymore, then I would just keep a close eye on it....I had this happen to my delt just the other day, although it wasnt that large, but it did start to subside a few days later, and today it is gone...

Hey administrator...you should study up on infecitons. You will find out that you need blood cultures to determine the type of infection you have...keflex is a broad spectrum antibiotic but dont tell new people to take random abx.

Dont just take random Antibiotics......this is not a wise decision.....certain bacteria are succeptible to certian antibiotics....If you take an antibiotic that is not appropriate for the type of infection you have then you can create a SUPERINFECTION!

Go ahead, take your Ibuprofen, it'll make you feel better, and no it will not mask an infection. If you have a true abcess, you will know it...soon.
I disagree with Rhino1. Antibiotics are given "impirically" all the time for a suspected infection prior to bug isolation. I'm with vette, Keflex for me at first sign of abcess. Bactrim DS is also decent for covering staph and other skin flora. I had to get IV Vanco for my delt abcess because I had occupational exposure to MRSA. Go figure.
Diffuse erythema, warmth, soreness could be just site inflammatory reaction. When an abcess develops, it will try to form a head and break thru the surface. often see very concentrated red area, which would require I&D.
Keep taking your Motrin though, and stay vigilant.

Dude, what the phuck? Super Infection? LMFAO. If you are reffering to what's commonly called a "nosecomial" strain of bacteria (super infection) that would be a little off base. "Super infections" such as MRSA, VRE, RSVP, ect. (kidding on the last one), are caused by bacterial infections that have been treated repeatedly but not completely. They may also be found in viral sheddings of people that have been treated with anti-retrovirals such as protiase inhibitors. They are most commonly found in hospital ICU units and nursing homes. (not in bodybuilders).

As far as the second part goes.... Blood cultures are not used to test the sensativity to ani-biotics. Blood cultures will only detect the presence of bacterial growth in the "broth". It's a real simple test. It really just measures air pressure (kind of). There is another test that will do this but not a culture.

When you come into a DR's office with the above listed symptoms, you would generaly be treated with a broad spectrum antibiotic (Keflex). Mowst MD's in the office setting wouldn't even do a culture. If they did, and another test revealed that you have some supe bug that can't be killed by keflex, they just call you back and change your prescription.

    Dude, go with the Keflex.

    Hmmm. Confused I am again

If I get it right, if you have an abcess, your dock needs to make a cut for drainage of the pus.

Antibiotics ain't going to make your pus going away right? It might stop the infection, but then you still have the lump.

If someone cares to explain.. that would be great!
If it does work, with antibiotics, can someone please post the substance of teh antibiotics that works, as there are many types.

wouldn't the pus eventually reabsorb (if it's sterile).
